This is by far the best XML tutorial that I have found. Easy to understand. Short and to the point. Clear instructions that I could easily adapt to my situtation. I have long been frustrated with trying to import XML data from my GPS/HRM watch. It does not come with a schema (xsd file). And I would suggest that Kirt adapt his presentation for that very common(?) situation. Using his instructions, first I use Excel to build the schema from the imported XML file. Then I build separate tables for the lap and (enclosed) trackpoint data. And magically, Excel imports the XML data into the separate tables. The result is much more usable than what I get if I import the XML directly into Excel. His instructions are a lot easier than writing my own VBA code to parse the XML file myself, as I had been doing. Once again, the best XML tutorial by far. Great job, Kirt!

This is what i was looking for. I was importing an xml file direct into excel via open or from text to csv or from web, and i was losing all html codes and uni 8 codes. However, i still had to search somewhere else on "How to create a xsd file and how to get into developer mode in excel. I am typing this at 5 mins into the video so i am watching further .. i think maybe a tip "make it simple and quick" i am a new business owner" and still learning but i aint got the time to keep watching long complicated videos haha

Splendid video! Can you just tell do Schema needs to have that kind of structure - I mean with all these "xsd, strings/int" and so on elements? That is for defining the format and structure? Is this official way of writing and preparing schemas? I am really new to it (to xml), and I found it actually that you can write schema on another way (I would say easier without all these definitions that you included). Thank you

Welcome :) VBA code might be the best way to go on this, but unfortunately at this time I haven't any extensive VBA videos that would help.
