Bawang Putih dan Bawang Merah
Once upon a time, in a village located on the edge of a forest, there lived two very different sisters. One was named Bawang Putih (White Onion), and the other was named Bawang Merah (Red Onion). They lived together with their mother in a small house.
Bawang Putih had thick black hair and brown skin. She was a girl who always did good deeds, worked diligently, and remained humble in her daily life. Bawang Putih helped her mother with household chores and always smiled, even though her life was not always easy.
In contrast, Bawang Merah had fiery red hair and fair white skin. She was envious and deceitful. Bawang Merah and her mother often scolded Bawang Putih, treating her like a servant. When Bawang Putih’s father passed away, Bawang Merah and her mother became even more cruel, burdening Bawang Putih further.
However, Bawang Putih remained patient and kind. She never complained and always served her stepmother and stepsister wholeheartedly. Bawang Putih faced all challenges with remarkable resilience and kindness.
One day, while washing clothes by the river, Bawang Putih found Bawang Merah’s beloved scarf floating downstream. Without hesitation, she retrieved the scarf and cleaned it. When Bawang Merah learned of this, she was surprised and felt ashamed that her scarf had been found by Bawang Putih.
Bawang Merah felt guilty and eventually realized that Bawang Putih’s kindness was far more valuable than beauty or wealth. She apologized to Bawang Putih and promised to change. Their mother also recognized her mistakes and apologized to Bawang Putih.
From that moment on, Bawang Merah and her mother learned from Bawang Putih’s kindness. They transformed for the better and began to appreciate Bawang Putih. Bawang Putih remained patient and kind, serving as an example for them.
And that is the story of Bawang Putih, who was patient and kind, and Bawang Merah and her mother, who were once wicked. This tale teaches us the importance of kindness, resilience, and forgiveness.
