Dev Anand (1923-2011) & Kishoreda (1929-1987). This duo goes back to 1948- "Marne Ki Duayen Kyun Mangu"? from Khemchand Prakash's Ziddi (1948) which is also Kishore Kumar's first solo as a playback singer. For the next 30-40 years the magic that these two presented was something else!!! From "Jeevan Ke Safar Mein Rahi"- Munimji (1955), the soulful "Dukhi Man Mere"- Funtoosh (1956)- which finally established Kishore Kumar as a serious playback singer, to "Mana Janab Pukara Nahin" & "Chhod Do Aanchal" from Paying Guest (1957). "Gaata Rahe Mera Dil" from Nav Ketan's Guide (1965)- based on the R.K. Narayan novel The Guide- Dev saab & Waheeda Rehman richly deserved those Filmfare Awards 🏆. Even "Yeh Dil Na Hota Bechara" & "Aasmaan Ke Neeche" from Jewel Thief (1967). A favorite of mine would be "Dooriyan Nazdikila Ban Gayi Ajab Iftefaq Hai" from Duniya (1968). "Aankhon Aankhon Mein Hum Tum" from Mahal (1969). Kishore Kumar will be remembered for ages because of his unique voice. No contemporary singer has such deep voice. He could recreate the feelings of human life so well be it euphoria, happiness or melancholy.... His unique nasal sweet voice is far far better than any contemporary singer like Axxxxx. Singers of today will only stay in focus till their singing style is acceptable to the public. But no sooner than they go out of circuit, their works go to backbench.
