CG short film "Dji. Death Sails" - by Dmitri Voloshin

Dji is a terribly unlucky death who doesn't seem good at his job. This time he has to take the soul of a pirate stuck in the middle of the ocean, but that is easier said than done!
This short film won the following awards:

I don't know if it's the fact I watch to many short films or that I use to wish to become an animator, but the fact that you went the extra length to add the soaked effect to Death's cloths is straight up amazing. Hell I hear water is difficult on its own so beautiful job!

All the story was told with visuals and assisted with sound. Brilliant short with Dji having great personality. He is perhaps too punctual and arrives bit too early and his attempt to alleviate boredom of waiting causes funny things.

At 0:34 the pirate is using the fig gesture with his hand. In most eastern European cultures this is used to rudely deny a request or could mean to ward off evil spirits. So the pirate is communicating “Screw you death, I am not accepting you.”
