My ex- wife sang this like a champ. She sucked in everything else, but I'll give her some credit

thank you for playing this IN TUNE - unlike some of the other bass covers here. And the tab! What a happy song.

not only in tune: but also the correct note lenght and dynamics. This cover is much better then all the other onces, i agree.

Could I get a copy of the tabs for this video please? I've been practicing with your tabs on this video for a months and I think I've got it down.

Great… thank you! Could you possibly make the score (bass clef) available for download please? I’m trying to reproduce the bass line for this song on my Nord keyboard.

Use a Flanger o chorus?
@Rik-Ahbece13 күн бұрын
Smoothie-bass uses chorus in the video..
@you0nlylivetwice Жыл бұрын
You should put a vertical line on the tabs so we can follow along, otherwise it's more difficult to know what notes to hit specially for someone just starting bass they will probably skip to another video

I totally disagree. One of the problems with modern guitar and bass teaching is using too much aids while trying to learn it.. When I started on guitar and later bass, I only had printed tabs and a CD or MP3 recording. (and no youtube videos with tabs) A lot of times my teacher challenged me to find out the notes myself by listening without having any sheet. That teaches you to use your ears. The most important thing is to play in complete sync with the rhythm - when you focus on a moving line while playing, your rhythm will always be a little bit off - because you are reading, processing and trying to play at the same time. Also: when you hear the note and then decide to play the note, then you are too late. When you are in sync with a recording you will not hear the notes of the original bass or guitar line because it cancels out. ( and when you are a few miliseconds off while playing with the recording, it will sound like you are playing with a chorus. :-) ) Start by playing and listening to the recording and don’t play - listen to the note placement, note lengths and dynamics. You have to hear and feel the rhythm - that makes something rhythmic. Then try to play the notes on the sheet, without the music, try to memorize them a bit.. Then start the recording again and try to play partly without the sheet. When you remember the notes without looking at the sheet, then you can lock way better into the rhythm. This exact thing is what why the bassist in this youtube video, and also in the 9 to 5 Dolly Parton bass cover, sounds much better then all the other bass-covers on youtube: He is locked in with the rhythm, has the correct note lengths, accents, ghostnotes and correct dynamic. My compliments to you fellow bassplayer, Smoothie-bass.
