I'm a 44 year old black man (that just loves music). I grew up a dreamer. I used to sit around at my part time job during my first year in college at, Winn-Dixie in SC, and this song came on over the little radio they had. After thinking I would never find her, I ended up meeting my wife. This song takes me back, but to more than just that moment. Good times the 90's were.

I'm so sorry you lost your lover friend confidant.... it gives you no peace to know that she's no longer in pain or any kind of suffering because we are selfish and want them here with us.... but know that you will be together again. There is a wonderful book by Richard Bach Titled Illusions. There are lots and lots of wonderful quotes, one that may fit here,. Don't be dismayed at good bys for where moments or lifetimes, true friends will meet again." When young people die, I am always reminded of the prayer from the movie Red Dawn (1984) near the end.... "These were good friends. Take them away from here... someplace safe... where this world's war never happened. And as we remember... please let them forget, O Lord... so they can be little again." I just went to your concert in Columbus last night, 10/28/24. I'm 24. This was my very first standalone concert, my very first concert of an artist I personally liked beforehand, and the first concert I planned to experience completely on my own. I hadn't planned to see you, in all honesty I had just woken up yesterday morning looking for something to do, and saw you were performing only 2 1/2 hours away for $35. When we got to the end and you sang "Kiss Me" and "There She Goes", I was reminded of quite a lot, but most of all, I was reminded of love and passion. Your love and passion for your art, the love and passion you reinspire in my heart, and especially the love and passion of my mother, who I know would've loved to see you too. We're always creating ripples in others lives, even if we don't realize it, and I just wanted to let you know that you've done so in mine.

the 90s and early 00's was a really interesting time in terms of pop culture (I am of the belief that Western culture peaked around the mid 2000's and that is backed up by the fact that (for the most part) the amount of quality bands/songs/movies has gone down dramatically since then. Interesting that this same time period coincided with the end of the Cold War where the US emerged as the dominate superpower, but since then somewhere along the way the "High" wore off and things seem to be trending down ever since.

It's the fact that it's about youthful romance (youthful as signified by "you father's map", indicating they are still probably teens); combined with the nature imagery (milky twilight, bearded barley, trail, moonlit floor, silver moon sparkling, treehouse and hanging tire would be outside and likely in the woods), which is romantic, and suggests youthtful connection to nature because young people spend more time than adults in those outside, natural settings, plus, the connection to nature suggests a more innocent time of man, when there was less technology, and innocent sexuality (just kissing, open hand).

It was April 2004. I woke up really early in a cold and grey Saturday just to use the internet (dial connection). Before turning the PC on I decided to have some hot chocolate and watch MTV. It was playing REM - It's The End of The World As We Know It, the videoclip brought me so much joy. I was 10 back then. The next song was Kiss Me, I fell in love with the song without knowing what love was.

The 80s and the 90s were a better time. A cultural treasure trove compared to the constant dumpster fire of today. I really feel bad for kids that have to grow up in the cultural wasteland of 2021. If the modern generation had anything useful to say, they wouldn't constantly be trying to recapture the magic of the past, and constantly failing miserably.

@rockabye2742 жыл бұрын
Feminine and sweet yes. However, this was released in 1997 during the Clinton years. So it was pre-9/11, pre-Iraq invasion/WMD fraud, pre-Afghanistan, pre-2008 Crash, pre-Covid 19 and variants, pre-Capitol invasion, etc. etc.
