this is why when people say the original line up is the best i have to say no, Carr was a far better rick drummer than peter. Peter just woldn hit the damn drums like he was mad at them. watch eric carr play, he is playing with his shoulders, peter played with his wrist. and man it sounds like it too now to be fair, i believe an elevator shaft was used for recording some of the durm parts to make the sound so huge.
@bigsarge87953 ай бұрын
@univalve1 so what exactly is the difference between those two ? I just know I loved these drums.
@univalve13 ай бұрын
@@bigsarge8795 I play guitar. And how hard you dig in to the instrument adds its own character. Drums are the same. Maybe even more so. You can hit a Tom and mic it up the a certain volume. You can really hit that same tom mic it to the same volume. But sound is different. Hitting hard give it a bit more of a frazzled sound. Or simply the sound wave is a different shape. How you play is as important as what you play. Eric was a rock drummer. He hit hard and pushed his instrument. Peter was tagging the drums with his sticks but it did sound as aggressive.

Truly an end of an era. Kiss were a band for 50 long years. Like them or not, there's no denying that Kiss were one of the biggest bands in not just rock music, but in all of music, and the fact that they were together for 50 years is truly commendable. The vast majority of bands don't make half as long as they did.
@ExcitedAnacondaSnake-hg8ec7 ай бұрын
They really weren’t that big if you look at album sales. No album sold more than two or three million. They made up for their minimal popularity with a loyal to die for fanbase, the key to their success. I’m a Bob Dylan fan , been to one of his concerts. Average kisss fans see multiple kiss shows.

He started performing his song and everyone was sitting down for a moment. I didn't know what was happening cause I was a newbie KISS fan, but the moment that he said "Stand up! You don't have to be afraid." I stood up and was the only one who did so. Felt like he saw me and locked eyes with me when he was performing. It was awesome. This is LONG before my time, but I find the concept of KISS’s music corrupting the teens pretty awesome. This seems to be directly playing into and mocking the fear of the parents of that generation.

I moved away from the hood in 1986 to pursue a corporate career. But I used to go back once a week to visit my mother. One day near my old house I saw a childhood friend, watering his lawn. He still lived in the house he grew up in. I stopped and we talked. I promised to come by and drink some beer with him and listen to KISS. But I never got around to it. A few years later he died. I will always regret that we didn't spend some time together, drinking and listening to KISS really loud and talking about how fun life was, back in the day.

My first KISS concert was in August 2nd, 1976. I have 3 boys now, ages 13, 11, and 10. Their first Kiss concert was last week Wednesday July 20, 2016. Didn't put it together how close they were till now. I mean, the month and day. Damn! Forty fu**in years!! Oh well, they still rocked pretty hard. Huge $$ spent on pyro, and explosives. Great Show! The coolest part was my 10 y\o standing and throwing double horns \m/ \ m/ to, Rock and Roll All Nite!! Well Ok, I also dug that Gene was still breathing fire after all these years. Great Show!!

I was lucky enough to see all the original members back in '99, when I was 15. That was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I could not see them now, just because they've aged and I just don't like Tommy Thayer's playing (not sure if that's his name lol). I wish I could have seen them in the 80's though, with Eric Carr and Bruce in the band, god those looked like prime events. I really wish I was a teen in the 70's or 80's, before all this tech was around and you HAD to go to a concert to experience rock music, instead of daydreaming on youtube lol

I am 18 now, so obviously I didn't have the chance to see KISS in their best era, but I saw them in 2013 and although the performance had some flaws (mostly Paul's voice) I still consider that night one of the best in my life. KISS is just a lifetime experience.

I'm pretty sure Ace is NOT in the video. Back then, they had Tommy Thayer stand in for Ace from time to time when Ace didn't show up...or was too loaded to perform. I NEVER remember Ace's hair that short. Not many appearances in the video. I'm also looking at around 2:47 in the video when you can see a full body shot and the shoes are NOT platform, very similar to what Tommy wears today. I remember seeing a concert in Las Vegas where they SAID it was Ace, but I could tell it wasn't him. The show must go on.....even if it meant duping the fans while they worked on their internal problems.
@odgykins7 жыл бұрын
This was the last music video to ever feature Ace Frehley. Yes, that is him in this video. There are interviews with Ace around this ear where he is wearing that outfit with his hair that short. Look it up.
@raaawkstaaar7 жыл бұрын
Tommy fucking Thayer didn't come into the fold until 1996 and he NEVER stood in for Ace , there were times when Gene asked Tommy to prepare to suit up when Ace has missed a flight or was MIA but he ALWAYS showed up! This video was 1982, 14 years before Tommy was hired by KISS and a full 20 years before he would become a SCAB and wear the makeup Ace created! The entire band cut their hair SHORT during the Elder minus Eric Carr for he wasn't hired yet.
