Population
It has 168,027 inhabitants, between the periods of 2001 and 2011 there was an increase in the population in the vast majority of the parishes of the municipality.
The municipality comprises 7 parishes, the largest being Rio Tinto with 50,713 inhabitants.
Location
It is located to the east of Porto and is also limited by the municipalities of Maia and Valongo to the north, Paredes to the east, Vila Nova de Gaia to the west and also to the south with the municipalities of Aveiro, Santa Maria da Feira and Castelo de Paiva.
How to get
It is approximately 8 km away from Porto, however, as it is attached to Porto, some parishes are even closer, such as Rio Tinto, which is 10 minutes by train from São Bento Station in the center of Porto.
So if you live in Rio Tinto you can use the train as a means of transport, but this does not apply to all parishes, which will need to use a bus or car.
Gondomar has some metro stations: Levada, Rio Tinto, Campaínha, Baguim, Carreira, Venda Nova and Fânzeres. All of them belong to the F line and establish a connection with Porto and other municipalities served by this infrastructure.
Driving from Avenida dos Aliados in Porto to the City Hall of Gondomar takes 21 minutes, 8 kilometers.
By bus the same journey can take 45 minutes using bus 800.
