I really like the way you explained each system. It made a lot of sense as to what and why you carry what you do. Very enjoyable!

I like the idea of carrying the water filter straw. I also carry a small roll of light wire.

Not a bad idea on the wire. Definitely useful.

Hill People Gear is high quality. Good review. I have the original kit bag. If a person utilizes caches for extra clothing, food etc., then this bag will get you through even should it turn into an overnighter or long term. I lash poncho and usgi tarp both beneath the bag. 450 ml metal mug slid onto end of tarp. Inside is my Esbit medium, two fuel tabs and lighter. A pilots flask with a Sawyer mini which screws right on. USB nebo headlight, fire steel, small usb rechargeable flashlight. 5 tarp pegs, ziplok first aid items. Rear pouch my sidearm, pair of socks, marino wool beanie and gloves. On front outside of bag is a folding 5 w solar panel charger, folds up to 5 3/4" x 11 3/4". 5 watts will charge the small headlight or the flashlight or the Baoefeng UV-3 NOT the 3R. 3R comes with charge cradle, the regular UV-3 came with usb. Rest of edc is in pant pockets. Caches in strategic locations in a.o.r. PVC pipes with glue caps and female thread adapters. 4" x 24", also two walmarts measuring 10" x 48". Cache and travel lite, and that bag is just the ticket. Wide mouth mouse proof bottles and small flat RR bridge crossings and culvert crossings beneath roads along ones everyday routes will cache a lot of goods and cheap.

Great kit Dan! I don't know if you read my comment from your intro video, but I have been using a HPG Heavy Recon Kit Bag for several years and really like it, especially as a layering system!
@ochocobushcraft17422 жыл бұрын
Thank you! For some reason your first comment never came through. I can see why you like it so much. I am amazed at the long hikes I have been taking with absolutely no lower back pain! If I understand what you mean by" layering system", that is what I am working on now. Kit bag has basics, and my pack takes me to the next level.

I think it was not posted because I included a link to the Hill People Gear website. Here is my comment which I will repost on your into video for your viewers: I've been using a HPG Heavy Recon Kit Bag for several years every time I'm in the outdoors. It contains my 2nd line of survival gear (5-Cs), navigation, medical, plus a pistol and 2 extra mags. Additionally I have a 100-oz CamelBak Mil-Spec Antidote hydration bladder attached to their optional shoulder harness - which I highly recommend. When it is loaded it weighs 8 pounds (with water) and the optional shoulder harness, it distributes the weight front to back evenly, making it much more comfortable.

Really cool I like it a lot I’m thinking but in that ID clear plastic area You could put a number of grim survival gear cards. Everything from fishing cards to fishing line cards you can put a signal mirror in there, That’s a perfect place for those Grimm survival cards

Nice selection of gear. I’m still working on mine. If I ever get a finalized load out for mine ( after some dirt time ). I’ll do a vid to show what I’m using. Take care Dan.

Look forward to seeing you do a load out video. Always enjoy seeing what others carry. I just added a RAT 1 D2 Steel folder to mine. "Dirt Time" as you said, caused me to want to add a folder.

I’m always looking for new and better ways to carry my gear. That’s one of the best kits I’ve seen in a long time. Gonna really have to get that SAR Kit. I have a Maxpedition pouch that’s similar to that Condor pouch. Perhaps I’ll try it.

I've been following HPG products for a while and will definitely be buying some of their stuff. Their Mountain Serape seems to be the closest competitor to the Swagman Roll, possibly even superior to it.
@ochocobushcraft17422 жыл бұрын
Would like to try the serape, but really like my swagman roll. Would like to compare them side by side, but a little over my budget right now, LOL!
