This is my review of Dragon's 251 C 3 in 1 kit from 2004. It gives you the option to make a 251/1, 251/7 or 251/10. Although it's older it still is quite the kit. It does have tracks on a sprue, which is unfortunate.
At 3:08 I mention a comparison article on Perth Military modeling site, you can read it here.

Thanks a lot, Adam, for making these very thorough and detailed reviews. If I really want to know what I'm getting in a kit,your reviews are extremely helpful. Keep up the awesome work and see you on ISM.

i love halftracks :) built the schwebelafette version some years ago and loved it. just make sure to assemble the hull walls in one session, they are easy to align as long as you can move around all pieces a bit because the glue is not yet set.

Hamilkar Barkas I had a feeling there would be something like that involved with hull assembly. I assume you're referring to the two main upper hull sides getting glued to the tub. I may loo for help on that if I build her soon.

Jason Smith That's how I feel too. It's a good kit to have in the stash because it seems to temp you with lots of possibilities.

Great review, Adam. I really like the dragon kits of this vintage. They seemed to be a much better value at that time. They came with the "Dragon Card" loaded with all the goodies. Not so much anymore.

Rick Beman Thank you. Me too, it seems between 2004 and 2007/8 kits were just stuffed with whatever they could find to throw in there. And there are enough of them out there on ebay that we'll be seeing them for a long time. And no, these days the kits I get new give me a feeling like I overpaid most of the time.

Picked this fellow up today, looks like a great kit, lots of goodies to say the least. The old Tamiya kits are to me,a nice kinda slow down and just enjoy a kit, they can be weathered to look as good s any. I did have one question for you Adam, How does one hack himself to death as you have done to yourself?, I see bandaids all over you. Perhaps safety razors would be a tad more appropriate for you. Thanks for the great review and your time.

Great review! I made the mistake of tackling this kit far too early in my hobbying career... before I learned how to speak Dragon and fully understood what I was trying to build... Great kit tho, and careful with the tub and lower sides construction, but she builds up nicely! Cheers!

GeekyRocket Thanks man, long time no see (except for a bit last Sunday). I have a "healthy respect" for this kit. I am excited to build it soon, but hesitant. And I'm sure I'll seek tons of advice from those of you that have built them.

Adam Mann I meant to post a couple videos last weekend of the Nashorn progress but then realized that my parents took off on vacation with the camara... one more week to wait... You're already 90% there then with that attitude, seems like you have a good understanding of what you are getting yourself into. I have 251/1 Riveted Version (6246) in the stash. Wouldn't mind picking up a AFV CLub 251, to do a side by side comparison of them.

Just ordered, sorry stole is the better term, this model from ebay for the crazy price of $17 (S&H was $9) . It was an auction that no one else seemed interested in. I feel like a million bucks right now! My cheapest Dragon model purchase to date.

One thing I learned with this kit the ammo boxes and ammo that come with the 37mm AT gun version are completely wrong and actually belong to a different AT gun. You should make resin copies of the ammo and ammo boxes from the Tamiya 3.7cm AT gun which are correct for the 37mm which are the same size as the ammo in the 37mm Flak36 and Flak43.

Nice review.....The AFV club 251s are better detailed than Dragon's but they're still good kits. The demensions are more accurate as well. The Dragon halftracks look more like OT 810s which were post war Czeck built copies of the 251s, but you get more bang for the buck with Dragon.

nice review mate. Love those dragon kits. The 251 was definately one of the best halftracks of ww2. Have you ever built a tamiya kit, because some of them aren't that bad
@AdamMann3D
@AdamMann3D 9 жыл бұрын
BasicModeling Thanks. The 251 was THE halftrack in my opinion. 250's are pretty sweet too though. Yes I have built Tamiya. I'm actually quite fond of the Tamiya stuff from the late 80's to now. Especially anything from say 1994 and on. I dig on them a bit, but when I first started all I built was Tamiya. Come to think of it, we're discussing having a "Tamiya Dinosaur GB" later this year, which would be any golden age 1970's tamiya kit.

Adam Mann How do I get in on that? I have a few 70's Tamiya kits that I save for "rainy weekend" builds.

You could do picture slide shows as a video. I'm not sure if we're running it as a KZbin only one or not, I'm sure if you want to participate we can figure something out.

got the D version of this kit with the infantry assault bridges on it. thats what i´m doing for the normandy diorama, also some figures to crew the thing. you always see them displayed more or less empty, i want do add the grenadiers to it :)

+Hamilkar Barkas That's true, I don't see a lot of dios of these that have life. I'm excited you're going to do something with that Normandy energy. Love the 251. I didn't know Dragon did a D with the bridges.

you showed it in the listing in your video, its 6223. apparently it comes with a crapload of accessoires parts which is good for what i have in mind :)

Hamilkar Barkas Ah that one. That's a pretty well known kit. All of those 251's seem to be loaded. I feel like they're under-rated kits in general. Tons of stuff in those boxes. And I do prefer the D I think to the C, those lines are just a bit sexier.
@HamilkarBarkasScaleModelling

Adam Mann as soon as dragon puts out a new one of that line they will no longer provide the goodies, thats for sure!

Watch your review, great job. So I go on eBay and get it 6224 same boxart, but NO figures NO ds uniform and boots and NO driver. Dragon are a bunch of sneaky bastards, if there change the contents of the box then they should change the number anything but 6224...

+Junglelands Well this is slightly disheartening since I just won an ebay auction for this item. And I was sort of looking forward to the figures too. Well we'll see if they are missing from the box when I get it but I have a feeling...
