Here is my review of the Dragon Panther D Premium kit 6299 from 2006. it's an updated version of the 2002 kit 6164, with lots of metal parts.

Great review per the norm. Looking at getting this model but checking with the retailer first to make sure the "premium" parts are in the box, namely the metal parts. Tamiya's 35345 looks good but I would have to replace those rubber band tracks so just getting this kit with magic tracks seems like the better buy.

Nice review Adam, I was looking for the 6164 long before the Tamiya was out, but after seeing your review I think the 6299 is a good choice for the extras vs price at least until the Tamiya goes a little down in price. As for the "dated" comments i think that for the year (2006) it is still far better than other kits from that era with far lees tooling technique than this one. Thanks and keep up the good reviews!

***** Thanks man. I know it might sound like I'm negative on the older Dragon stuff with the "dated" comments, but I'm just trying to make sure people know there is a difference in the style of molding. I have a number or premium kits, and they are very good value.

i have this sucker in my stash and look forward to building it :) in my opinion it is superior to the tamiya one they are releasing with regard to the price value ratio. i think the original 2002 version of the kit was actually my first dragon kit ever.
@AdamMann3D9 жыл бұрын
Hamilkar Barkas I saw that you showed it in that video you made about Dragon. If you can get it for a decent price I agree with you. But I'd have to see the Tamiya one in the flesh before I decided. But this one having magic tracks and all that PE, it's a great great kit.

Golly that's a lotta metal! Would you recommend some kind of bending tool? Thanks for the great review!
@AdamMann3D9 жыл бұрын
AltCtrlFreak Thanks. Yeah I would for this one at least. If you try and do the clamps for sure, and even the spare track hanger on the rear may be tricky without one. I recently got the RP Toolz large bending tool.

Very fine review. The Tamiya kit will probably not have any of the typical Dragon fit issues though. I will wait to sell mine once the Tamiya arrives from Japan (can you believe 3 - 4 weeks shipping - seems like Japan slipped back a century or so as far as shipping time) Not crazy about Tamiya selling the kit bare bones.
@AdamMann3D9 жыл бұрын
Martin Collmer Thank you. I agree. I think if they had included the track upgrade, barrel and PE in the kit for a cost of like 50-55 they would have cleaned up. Now, people like myself are put off by the upgrade sets and just stick with the evil I know which is Dragon. Slow boat from Asia shipping takes forever. I tend to only buy from the US now.
@DeerHunter3089 жыл бұрын
Adam Mann Yes, this is the last thing I will ever ever buy from Japan. I could have waited until it was available fro Us outlet and spent a few dollars more. It is worth it.

Hello, does this kit for well and have good details ? I'm looking to buy one .
@AdamMann3D4 жыл бұрын
I would probably go with the Tamiya one from a fee years ago. Unless thr large Photo-etch part appeals to you.

@@AdamMann3D thanks , so besides pe parts, does the kit fit well ?

Clayton McClain It's an affliction for sure man. I plan to get Tamiya's D at some point. Let me know how that Bergepanzer IV is.
@claytonmcclain1829 жыл бұрын
Adam Mann oh my if I had your skill, so I could talk about the Berg IV, this will be a short talk of it. _MT, texture on both sides of fenders, "Awesome looking", very little PE, seen it before, decals just 4 Balkenkreuz. Good wood texture. Think u would like it I'm happy thanks for helping me make up my mind.
