Wow, a smart, intelligent review by a normal guy, with good camera work and editing. Subbed!

Thanks for that! :)

Super beautiful rifle. I like that rail. Ideas for a next build.

Thanks for telling how it was attached no one is telling that for some reason.

Glad to share it.

Love the camo. Exactly how I want to paint mine. Resembles the scheme of the JAWS II exercises of '77 on the A10

Thanks! I'm pretty pleased with how that rifle came out. :)

Awesome. Talked to the SLR guys at the NRA show when I got my break to walk around the floor. Very good people, and they even make stuff for my Mini Draco SBR :D
@KitBadger7 жыл бұрын
Ya, they make a surprising number of components for AKs. Not to mention just the sheer volume of different rails they offer.

I need to pick one of these up for my "EDC" AR. I love the lack of meaningless cheese graters. I've managed to keep her KISS for a while.. A2 front sight post, Magpul SL handguard, feels good, but you know... AR builder bug is strong.

Love my SLR upper In 300blk with this rail

Nice!

I just bought it for the AK (Saiga). Had been/still runnin Troys on the others. This is similar.
@KitBadger5 жыл бұрын
Nice, I’ve seen those. They look pretty rad.
@blockaderunner5 жыл бұрын
@@KitBadger Will have to see side by side. I think that I will prefer the SLR "looks" to the Troy (older model, no M-Lok). The troys fell off with rapid fire until my gunsmith machined a part to keep it in place free of charge. I love the feel of the Troy, and believe the SLR will be similar in feel/grip at just $20-$50 more.

My favorite rails. Infinite length options, 7075 aluminum, 4 QD points, and $100 less than Geissele 👍🏼

They’re pretty sweet...

I want to try a handguard without the full top rail like this. Is this still the model you would recommend?
@CKinnerley7 жыл бұрын
She's a beat. How I do not miss forends with specific slots for attachment bolts and gas tubes. Only thing I'm gutted about is I have an earlier mode of the same rail in 9" but it's totally circular inside, so M-LOK stuff doesn't actually really work properly.
@KitBadger7 жыл бұрын
That is weird, from SLR Rifleworks?
@CKinnerley7 жыл бұрын
Ya. The thing's a few years old though. I'll show you a picture some time if I can find one.
@KitBadger7 жыл бұрын
Right on. Was it sold as M-LOK? If so, send it in for a upgrade. :)

Rifle looks great! Did you paint that the same way you did you G17? Nice jacket too. I love OR gear.
@KitBadger7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Richie! Yes, I used the same method as painting the G17. I actually made a video of painting the rifle. It was one of my earlier videos. And yes, OR makes some great gear.

Looks good,I've been thinking about getting this rail. One question though? Why run iron sights if your optic mount isn't qd? It would be pretty much impossible to take it off unless you have the wrench hidden somewhere.
@KitBadger7 жыл бұрын
Legitimate question... I just mounted the optic and am trying to figure out if I am going to leave it on that rifle, or put it on another. And even if I leave it there, not a huge benefit of removing my BUIS.
@Blue_Ranger_Overlanding7 жыл бұрын
Kit Badger that is true. I do like the light weight of the mount though, I would just want qd. How do you like the Steiner? I'm stuck between that and the trijicon variable scope.
@KitBadger7 жыл бұрын
Haha, not a Steiner, wish it was... It is actually a ATIBAL. I am working up a review of entry level variables for 3 Gun and what not. You bring up a good point though. I would like to end up with a whole slew of riflescopes that I could lend out. I want to create a exchange / lending platform. It sucks when you are on the fence of dropping $$$ on something you don't have a chance to test drive. Even if you have the opportunity to look through one on a rifle, it still isn't the same as running it on your rifle...
@AlexanderGarbuz7 жыл бұрын
Snow????? Already??? Wow!!! :) How would you compare it to Geissele rails?
@KitBadger7 жыл бұрын
Ya, up on the ridge line. It was chilly... The Geissele is way more polished in every sense of the word. It is like holding part of the space shuttle. SLR Rifleworks is not at that level. But I do really like the lack of a continuous top rail.
@AlexanderGarbuz7 жыл бұрын
This is exactly how I felt when I first saw Geissele rails. I think on SBR extra rail might be warranted to mount extra stuff such as light, back up irons, peq15, etc. Plus the looking cool factor :)
@KitBadger7 жыл бұрын
I agree, on all points. :)
@papaianiuarmy31117 жыл бұрын
Should try geisselle rail
@KitBadger7 жыл бұрын
I have some and like them. They are more expensive though and unless they changed their lineup, they all have continuous top rails. In the near future I will probably do a review of them, because they are sweet.
@thegolflife75655 жыл бұрын
Can you fit a 1.5” can under this rail?
@KitBadger5 жыл бұрын
No, they are not that big.
@charged2146 жыл бұрын
Is that m-lock on top at the 12o'clock position also?
@KitBadger6 жыл бұрын
I asked the same question when I first saw it Adam. But no, it isn't. I talked to the guys at SLR and apparently there isn't enough material there, with the gas tube below it, and the bigger issue, having the rail sit at the appropriate level from the upper receiver.
@charged2146 жыл бұрын
Kit Badger Thank you, makes a big difference in which rail I will be purchasing.

What's your upper and lower
@KitBadger7 жыл бұрын
It is a Midwest Industries billet lower and I think the same upper if memory serves. But the upper is slick sided, no forward assist.
@Liam-B6 жыл бұрын
Helix rails are lighter than any of the carbon fiber ones of the same length, they are solid, and seck-c.
@KitBadger6 жыл бұрын
Nice, I just looked those up. I hadn't seen them before. Perhaps for my next build...
