This is by far my favorite pack. I have had multiple packs across multiple careers. Hunter to Recon life in the Army, I can not suggest this pack enough. I have multilevel disc disease in my lumbar section of my spine and has been very comfortable. Zipper pulls need work, fabric could be a little lighter, but over all this is an absolute effective pack for the every day hiker or bushcrafter.

Nice video! Wish you would have shown and talked about the overload system/extra storage between the frame and bag. That looks like another great option to have and to me it’s almost the biggest reason I’m getting this backpack.

Solid and salient review @Kit Badger. Subbed! I have the TerraFrame 80 +Backstrap since 2019, and you see the MR Backstrap setup for the wonder that it is when combined with the Guide Lite frame and righteous MR harness rigging. You can carry a kid in a car seat back there, much less a canoe portage barrel or a shank of wapiti. Except you didn't cover how well the big pack can scrunch down for smaller loads and not be excessive in the least for day trips. Or how the GL frame fits several different MR pack bags as well as most recent US milspec bags [there's videos]...So you can ski or bike a biathlon loop, or prone out on an Alaskan Dall ram, or belay a lead climber from a narrow ice ledge in a properly fitted Terraframe 50/65/80...and the top of the pack won't interfere with your head or cool helmet. I carry a long ice axe, microspike case, CF tripod, and sometimes trekking poles, paddles, rod cases, wading boots sandals clogs on the back daisy loops [never all at once tho...]. I like the Dana pockets for raingear tarps and packable waders, puffys and socks in dry bags, M65 pants, butane cans and msr or brs stoves, game bags, paddle shafts, Camp Trails Highback...shit with low sectional density [considering they're out away from the frame]. Poncho/shelter half bungies to daisy loops on lid top, headlamps, paracord, FAK, electrolyte mix, gloves, and a couple thousand calories of munchies inside the lid.. I can use the Terraframe lid/daypack on the Guide Light frame, and the Backstrap load carrier weighs ounces and rolls up small to keep in there to maximize 1st trip haulout after the stalk... Leaves more room inside the main for heavy loads of FOOD and RIPPEDFUEL, and that fancy Czech spotting scope I keep wrapped in my backup FroggyToggs and puffy softie oversized goat glassing parky... Protip: Ppl should watch the MR How 2 Fit video - the Frame Size is basically the waist belt size and online buyers don't want to go too big Protip2: 303 Fabric Guard is like an antiUV time capsule for nylon/poly/cuban/spectra, and has very good DWR effect

Great review. Just picked one up and hoping to get it out very soon. I’ve got a pack for every purpose it seems and they’re starting to take up space. I decided to downsize and while doing so, get something that can do more of everything, and well. This seems like the one for me. @KitBadger you missed one of the best features of the bag and the hybrid frame, and that's the ability to use the "overload feature" to pull the frame away from the pack and pack large items between the frame and the pack... like your Pelican case! Still a great review. Can't wait to get my hands on this!

I scored the T'frame 80 in green at REI in 2019, and have a couple thousand miles brutalizing it in backcountry Alaska. This pack is amazing and capable, and built skookum good too.

@@allpointsthreesixty how is the straps on your pack after all this use? I find mine to be a bit stiff. And digging into my shoulders/neck. But is brand spanki’n new and just livingroom worn still🙃

​@@lovehjerte If the straps on any pack are digging in, then put some of the weight on the waist belt. I can tighten up the waist belt to the point that all the weight is on my hips and there's a gap between the straps and the top of my shoulders. If you can't do that with a middling weight in the pack, you need to adjust the pack's torso length for a proper fit. MR has good videos on pack fitting and adjustments. There is also plenty of generic "Distributing Weight In A Backpack" info too. You don't want to be leaning forward with the straps digging in.

@@allpointsthreesixty Thanx! 👍 Its not exactly digging in. It’s more like the inside of the straps are pusing a tiny bit on my neck. Like i want a bit more angle on the straps on my shoulders. I wonder if this is because of the "narrow" buckles on the top frame behind the neck. Maybe the foam will form a bit over time?

@@lovehjerte Again, it reads like you don't have the pack fitted correctly. But you may have very narrow shoulders, or a hunchback and a truly massive neck confounding your efforts? I would suggest watching and/or reading some of MR's pack fitting tutorials and/or contacting someone at MR for help. Might want to loosen the breast strap too. It's not a load-bearing accessory, and it doesn't need to be tight.

On a separate note, what time of pants and hoodie are you wearing? Always looking to dial in the clothing I wear while out on the trail. Used a pair of Prana's last time and they just didn't do it for me.

I just got the Terraframe 80. Love the pack, but im wondering if the shoulderstaps are a bit narrow behind the neck wich again diggs into my shoulders a bit. Will the straps soften up over time?

Hi kit badger, I'm looking for a bag for long range long term Search and Rescue but it also needs to function as a bagpack that is able to go with me for self supporting long range missions. However it needs to be covert don't want to stand out to much in urban situations. I really like that you can convert to a daybag and the ability to overload for carrying jerrycans ect. Any suggestions? Thank you very much!

You keep referring to having to take the pack off the frame and install the strap in order to use the load hauling capabilities. You’ve missed the unique character of this system. All you had to do is extend the load shelf straps on the pack and you could utilize the shelf with the pack on the frame. Put anything you want between the bag and frame. There are compression straps on the bag. You don’t have to remove the bag. It should have been obvious but you missed it.
