Taking kitchen litho further into the kitchen...
I'm using Émilion's discovery of coke as an etching solution on top of aluminum foil in what she calls "kitchen lithography" and adding more kitchen ingredients--tapioca flour and pancake syrup--to the process. Cola works as an etching solution because it contains phosphoric acid, and pancake syrup (the cheap stuff) works as a binding agent because it contains gum.
Estou usando a invenção da Émilion na França de usar coca cola para gravar folha de aluminio (litografia caseira). Adicionei mais dois ingredientes de cosinha--polvilho e melado de panqueca--ao processo. A coca serve para fazer gravura porque contem acido fosforico, e o melado de panqueca serve como protetor porque contem goma.

O meu não deu certo :( . Quando vou passar a tinta não fica somente nas partes desenhandas, fica em todo o alumínio. O que será que pode ter acontecido?

Marta, two questions: 1. Could you use a foam brayer (like the type they make for painting in small areas) or would that be too soft? 2. Do you think this could be used to etch copper (just for the design, not to print afterwards)? Thanks!!

Hi. My friend and I are having trouble with the last step where you apply the ink. When we do it, it doesn't stick to the etching and just sticks to the whole piece of tinfoil. Do you have any tips? Thanks

Max Case What kind of ink are you using? It has to be an oil-based ink (and NOT water-soluble oil paint). Look for etching ink.

How do you make a leather bayer? I don’t seem to find it online.
