It's so funny that you keep saying that the cat is not your cat, but for the way he behaves, he definitely feels that he's the actual owner of the house and he's just letting you guys live in it. Cats are funny that way (I know, because that's how mine behave). And about the kitchen, oi good job!!! I always wanted to do the same in my house, but when the time came my father didn't let me, and hired people. So, I live through you for now. Thanks.

Behind the sink is called a back splash in the US, but a splash back in the UK IDK what it is in France. I've never seen it applied with the bottom row angled like that! I love it! My partner prefers tile for the cooling effect, but I like the look of wood....guess what our house is gonna have. Also, its definitely a backsplash. A credenza is a sidetable thing, usually in the dining room. You said something about the cat getting fan art, not you, and I immediately thought of a little something (drawing, etc) with a bright red ponytail and a beret (sorry for the stereotype in my brain, heh😅) I hope this little bit of liking and commenting helps! I thought I would hate the tiles on the backsplash, but it turned out surprisingly classy! The tiles look like they have always been there, yet they are so nice and clean, and without a single cracked piece, what an improvement! The floor looks amazing, too, I hope it will not kill your backs by being too hard to work on, but people have been working on concrete floors for generations, so you'll probably not even notice. When it comes to handles, I have one tip: Avoid any sharp angles, especially if they are also narrow, like in a small plate of steel, because they are extremely good at ripping clothes apart. Hm, might want to install one in the sewing room...?

I would put curtains or something on the opening to the livingroom, I think the bar thing is a really good idea and it turned out super cute but if you are cooking something really smelly like bacon or that makes a lot if smoke it's nice to be able to block the kitchen off a bit. Also I get nervous when people watch me cook so I wouldn't want my guests to stare at me from the livingroom but that might just be me😅

"Backsplash", that is, (in the US) the wall behind the sink or stove, and by extension, the rest of the wall between the upper and lower cabinets is called the the backsplash 😊. It's interesting that the French word is so similar to the English word "credenza" when the American-English usage, at least, usually refers to a large horizontal piece of furniture like a large desk or something similar. I'm sure they have similar roots and aren't false cognates (like the German word "Gift" actually translates to "poison" in English and not "gift" or "present," yikes!), the subtle difference in usage is just interesting to me 😊

at 7:13, I dunno what those are from but I found some in my former tenant's room... ew ew ew ew. I always called the wall behind the sink the "backsplash", mine was boring AF and the kitchen is narrow with the sink at the far end so people were always sneaking up on me if any appliance was making noise so I installed a mirror for mine! We call drywall compund "forbidden frosting" because every time I do a repair job with the stuff at work, when I come home I always want to ice cakes... I've done just enough tiling to feel like putting in the tiles is the easy part, it's the grouting (and of course cleanup) that always gets me. OH and I know it's too late now, but ceiling before walls, walls before floors whenever possible... Congrats on such a good job!

We live in the suburbs of Paris, and at some point we're gonna redo our kitchen too (probably Ikea too, lol, though I don't like their plan de travail, but we don't have the budget for marble or granite), and I really really want a BIG white sink (one that fits in an 80cm caisson) edit: ah, I see it's the 62cm farm sink from Ikea, it's not as big as I want.
