Kite Fishing on a 17 Foot Whaler - Landed a Huge Sailfish!

You don't need a big boat to catch fish! You don't need a boat with 4 baitwells to catch fish! You don't need a boat with 4 engines to catch fish! And you don't need a boat that goes 50+ mph to catch fish! In this video, we jumped on our 17 foot Boston. Whaler, Encore Light, for an offshore adventure off South Florida.The main focus was to demonstrate how to kite fish on a small boat.
One of the best things about fun fishing on a boat like a whaler is how close it puts you to the action! It's as close as you can be to the water without literally swimming in it. With no t-top on a boat like the whaler, it's also much easier to chase down a fish with the kite in the air and avoid wrapping lines around the top that can turn into a giant mess if you don't pay attention to what you are doing. We have a 50 gallon round chemtainer for a baitwell on it. For a sea anchor I picked up a small inexpensive one at a local nautical flea market but I also have a 6 foot para tech sea anchor that will put the brakes on if you need to
