So, you went from a 1.5AH battery to a 2.8AH battery so much better run time. BUT also going from 23A discharge rate to 35A means much more "power output" which would be noticeable, especially on your little saw and other high load tools. I'd say 150% more run time in practice, with around 52% more power output in theory. Very cool to see.

This stuff will become more and more important as more things go battery powered. Home owmers, small engine repair people, and implement dealers will want to know how to do these types of repairs/replacement especially when the warranty runs out. It will just make battery powered implements even more economical and be able to be used even further into the future.

If so, how do you like them? I like the fact that they appear to be compact. Just not sure if they are as good and dependable as the larger 18v or 20v tools.

My 12 drills are used for most jobs, I use the heavier M18 for things like circle saws and drilling concrete. But 90% of the time all you need is maybe to predrill a scew holes and drive a screw. Other times M18 is the only option, like my M18 circular saw. With lights M12 units are like powerful flashlights. The M18 are more like worklights for lighting u a room.

So you effectively made a 3ah m12 battery pack that's available off the shelf? I'd be interested is seeing how it compares to a genuine 3ah m12 battery. Not negating the information regarding replacing of cells good to know when it comes to fixing damaged packs that's good information! Just feels wrong to compare the results in this way. For lack of a better analogy, my 100L fish tank broke I fixed it and now it's 200L and it now holds twice as much.
@Kitearmy Жыл бұрын
Or you had a 100l fish tank that would not hold water and now it does.
@jakbain1337 Жыл бұрын
@@Kitearmy This video doesn't portray that narrative. This video has a lot of emphasis on how the modified battery is so much better and how it lasts 150% longer. (Not 150% more power which should be 125% anyway) not that it is now functioning. The results are misleading considering there is already a STOCK 3ah battery. Don't market a repair video as an upgrade video. There is no link to the previous video in the description.

This is a saver video, just in case. And a great project, though there are many off the shelf options now. Have had the twelve volt Milwaukee system nearly twenty years now and only in the last few years have the batteries started failing. Obviously I’m only an infrequent user. However there’s a lot of options now on Amazon for upgraded batteries with greater amp hours than the original. Got two and they far exceed the originals, and were far less expensive than the OEM options. But that work table and mini welder just looked like fantastically useful for building small stuff.

You need to make sure that all 3 cells are at the same charge level. Otherwise you will not be getting the most out of the cells. Its the same as how you should not mix an old AA alkaline with a new one. The old battery will drain the life out of the new one fast.
