If I just skipped to that gaming section I’d have thought it was a good screen. With a bit of blue adjustment on the curve and a tweak here and there seems ok for gaming. Guess beggars can’t be choosers.

I love illyama - this is actually a good gaming screen, my buddy has it - got it on sale for 290 ish online, dont think he ever noticed half of the problems. I did always think he had it set wrong as it looked a bit blueish out of the box, but he didnt care. maybe the target audience for these screens just dont look at this too closely!

I bought this screen, it is ok. I found the stand is very poorly designed and doesnt articulate the way id hoped. Its clearly got a blue balance to the image, noticeable to my eye. I changed the settings to those you recommended and its helped a lot, so thank you. Gamma, same for me, broken. same image with both. Apart from that, gaming with iracing last night, was enjoyable and Im quite happy with it - I paid 300 for mine, not sure how some people here for it for less. I looked everywhere. got mine on ebay from a reseller. Good review, keep up the good work

Great work. I hope you follow up the calibration issue with Iiyama. You posited a firmware update: is that actually possible? Many monitors don't support firmware updates. That control stick is going to be a major problem if you have two of these monitors stacked; it's a pity it cannot be controlled over USB.

@@browntrousersforsafety-el2bo It’s shockingly good when you get it set up right, but for me it always takes a few days to a week to get the “just right settings”, The HDR in Alan Wake 2 and cyberpunk is literally like playing a different game, and the SDR mode deep blacks are like black black, I’ve never experienced anything like it, the best monitor I’ve ever owned, 👍

Saved up for multiple years ever since the first QDOLED monitor and finally bought the MSI 321UPX. I now understand why people write off LCD completely. However if I were to be using my monitor 90% for microsoft word or excel for example then yeah I'd still use LCD.

@@KitGuruTech Yeah! There's a $550 difference between the UPX and the URX here in Australia, and now that MSI has said it can receive firmware updates or send it in, I went and bought it. I've been eyeing an OLED display for ages, and I was even tempted to buy a c1 to use as a monitor. I went from 1080p to 4k, 24" to 32", TN to OLED and now I can experience HDR. It's a massive upgrade on all fronts, like a Victorian child seeing fireworks for the first time kinda thing lmfao.

Some of ppl who commented here mentioned about video showed some settings (i assume that these are RGB settings) for this monitor. I watched video few times but still can't notice when you show them. I have bought this monitor and it's awesome compared to my old 5 years old IPS (black is more like black, blur is less noticeable, color gamut is wider and higher refresh rate is great) but i can't fix yellow tint at white background. I have tried default settings and R100 G89 B89 settings which i have found in the other review.

Dominic, quick question, how long did this take you to calibrate - how much is the gear you use to do that? More than the monitor cost I imagine

The calibration process itself is fairly quick - around 10 minutes. I use Calman Ultimate software which is around $2000 for a user license (I know!), the X-rite iDisplay Pro Plus colorimeter alone is around £250-300. So it's definitely not reasonable to expect anyone buying a budget monitor like this to have the necessary tools

I received the monitor, and unfortunately I see the same problem of 2.2 gamma identical to 1.8! I also notice another annoying problem: with the Freesync activated I have noticeable flickering even under windows! IIyama we are waiting for you soon with a fix! otherwise hello the wave of returns!!

we did reach out to iiyama with our findings and they told us it the factory calibration was done on purpose to target gamers, which didn't make a lot of sense to me but they were happy our results weren't wrong

This really should never have shipped the way it is. The fact the gamma 1.8 and 2.2 don’t even change is crazy to me. That alone means anyone who is trying to analyse video or photos will be screwed.
