I'm in full agreement with you. If Tag Heur reissued the Formula 1 at a reasonable price point (400-600 USD) and then brought out the limited edition KITH version several months later at a much higher pricepoint for the hypebeasts with more money than sense, I would have no issue with Tag. The way they've mishandled this relaunch is a slap in the face to long time Tag customers, watch enthusiasts, and the younger generation looking at getting into the brand. They've screwed over 90% of their customers.

If an unlimited swatch can cost US$300, then a limited TH can cost US$1500.

Limited edition hypebeast collaborations simply do not screw over those that opt out.

Yea it’s a bigger game being played and we are out the loop lol. Cuz most of the people who are buying the kith watch didn’t know what tag heuer was before. So it really only targeted kith fans. And some hard core tag fans eBay has older models up for 400$ I’ll snatch those 😂

That is exactly what I did. Got a great example from Japan for €300, it is cooler to me because it is a Tag Heuer and not associated with Kith.😂

Could have been a massive hit. I don't want "Kith" on the dial. Unlike a lot of people on the internet that complain, I have been a Tag Heuer customer for many years now. They played too many silly games with this release--limited edition, channel distribution restrictions, and outrageous price.

Fully agree, I also think that they may have annoyed a lot of loyal customers. Tag Heuer are in a really weird space for me now, they are a great watches with a lot of brand history, but they are at a price point that is very competitive. So, I would be more inclined to spend my hard earned money on a brand that is more customer loyal. But that’s just me😂.

@@watch-this-official Agreed. I've been saying their pricing is all wrong since the Aquaracer redesign, which are having the same price as the Tudor Black Bay. Before this Kith nonsense, I was considering a regular Formula 1, but the price on one now is 2100 dollars. My local AD won't discount for TH, which I found surprising.

Well put. It’s everything that’s wrong with not just the Swiss watch industry, but the luxury market in general. Pure greed. These brands know there are idiots with more money than sense. They know some idiots equate quality with the price tag. So these brands just ask for these outrageous prices. Unfortunately there’s an unlimited supply of idiots and suckers in this world that fall for these games. They spoil it for everyone. I would buy a standard model if Tag launches them later on. They would have sold millions. But Tag’s short sightedness blurred their vision.

It is crazy that brands like Tag Heuer forget their own history. It was this watch in particular that helped Tag to be able to make a quartz watch in a luxury brand and people supported them. It is now a so disappointing that they pander to this quick fad instead of serving the loyal customers that helped them through a very tough spot. I for one am happy with my two Tag Heuer watches but would be reluctant to buy another one. There are plenty more great brands out there to explore.
