I can relate on the book collecting aspect... I recently found a hardcover version of Chickenhawk by Robert Mason which is one of my favourites from the Vietnam era that I read back in the 80s. Time to read it again.
@KitplaneEnthusiast2 жыл бұрын
Chickenhawk was a great book. I read it many years ago. When I was in the Air Force I had a part time job at Waldenbooks. I used to have so many good books but like a dummy I gave them away when I moved because it didn't want to pack them. Now I wish I still had them.

Hey Mark! I'm building the 750 STOL. Why? Because about 3 years ago I stumbled upon a couple of KZbin videos 1st was some guy flying around in his Kitfox shooting backcountry landings. The 2nd one was you starting the Cruzer build. I earned my PPL way back in the 80s,accrued about 100hrs, then "life got in the way ". Anyway,..RETIRED now and live on 100 acres in SE Ohio. I thought that you might like to know that you inspired at least one person to stop dreaming and start doing. Thank you!!

Mark . . . You have the UL 350IS in your 750 Super Duty, and I believe in your other Zenith. What was your reasoning to choose this engine over say . . . more horsepower UL or a different engine manufacturer? I am in the engine investigation stage. Thank you in advance for your response.

Hi Mark U have a lot of bare wall space in hanger and garage, hang Pitts wings there. Was nice meeting and talking with U at the tin goose ride Oshkosh.
@KitplaneEnthusiast2 жыл бұрын
I've thought of that, but that big bare wall will be needed for the paint booth to paint the SD so I don't want anything on the wall. The wings would look good there though!

@@KitplaneEnthusiast waited for RV-15 but not sure, will definitely be quick build or let someone else do the 80%, awaiting the High Wing Sonex, thought it would be at Oshkosh, looks interesting with the Rotax. Thanks for response, enjoying your videos.

Darn, I don't even have one plane :-) Looks like Michigan is just like Ohio, too many deer. Damage done to vehicles and people here is very significant. They need to increase the hunting limits and sterilize the population in areas where the deer can't be hunted. Last fall on the golf course behind my house we counted 29 deer in one place at one time. No hunting allowed!!!!
@KitplaneEnthusiast2 жыл бұрын
I know they (the state?) allow certain people to hunt year round on the airport to remove the deer from the airport. I asked about getting my name on the list to do that but I guess they only allow a certain number of people. That's why a lot of times I do a pass over the runway to hopefully scare away the wildlife before I land. I hit the deer with my car at bout 5:00am going to work. The only damage was a broken headlight and the two doors. Both the front and rear corner panels were untouched. This happened months ago but the Jeep dealer can't get a new headlight. So they are waiting until they get the headlight before they fix anything.
@rocroc2 жыл бұрын
@@KitplaneEnthusiast - aside from the deer damage here that is very significant, I had my Honda hit while sitting at a stop light seven weeks ago, I can't get in to a reliable repair service until August 28. Even then they can't guarantee parts and it will be a minimum of 12 days to complete repairs. I know exactly what you're up against.
