@@powertrip1050 Exactly, a flight director no less, the kind of guy (not THE guy though) who, after the Columbia disaster, uttered the words "lock the doors" very calmly... Luckily, I think Paul Dye never had to go through an event like that.

The reflection on the canopy @ 9:12!!!! He flies so smooth and precise that it looks like autopilot. That flight helmet has some amazing art. Thank you for this video.

The helmet was painted by John Stahr, the same artist who painted the aircraft - he does amazing work to match the art to the pilot.

That must be so exciting to fly. Thats a proper “Boy’s Toy” That almost simulates a jet fighter pilot. Very impressive. What a great place you live. I’m from the UK and was lucky enough to visit Lake Tahoe, and it is a stunning area.

I don't know if im seeing correctly but there's a visible gap at the join of the main canopy and forward canopy frames! Holy kanolee if that's the case! Also a very clear indication of the simplicity f this jet is the naked screw ends through the canopy frame, love it! This is one step away from an open cockpit ultralight!

I would have thought the FADEC would have negated the need to be concerned about engine spool up/down times. Great airplane. Excellent video.

FADEC isn't magic. The turbine needs time to spool up and the FADEC can't change that. It takes over the monitoring and careful throttle control from the pilot. This reduces mental load and prevents mistakes (like moving the throttling too quickly). With the FADEC the pilot can just jam the throttle and focus on something else. The engine will spool up safely and as quickly as the turbine allows.

This sounds like the pilot we had when we flew to Tunisia from Gatwick very calm, very laid back he said it's a lovely day, no problems told us how long and approximate time of arrival told us he will point out Paris and the island of Malta so we get a good view weather pending thanked us for flying with them told us to relax enjoy the flight suffice to say no one could possibly feel uneasy. Couldn't of done it better.

Thanks Paul. One of the best Subsonex videos, and a great promo for the jet. Monet and company have done a great job, and I know it's a 'sport plane', but why there's not at least a 12" area behind the seat where you can carry a small travel bag, or optionally more fuel, (in case you want to actually go someplace), escapes my logic. The 2 seat version-now under development is disappointingly a side by side- blows the whole fighter pilot experience...

A beautiful plane. Keep in mind, that the Truckee, Lake Tahoe, Minden area is full of Sailplanes wave flying at 12 to 17.9 k. Further north, Reno center has three wave windows allowing gliders into the class A. Have fun, fly safe.

Nice micro jet! Can't wait to see the JSX-2T version. Very nice voice over explanations and flight demo. It's very interesting that glider flight training is required to complete transition training to take your FAA check ride to fly this jet. As a glider flight instructor, I would say learning to fly a glider makes you an overall better pilot!

So you're the guy flying that little hot rod east of my neighborhood in Dayton! My wife and I saw you this Sunday and have seen you many times before taking the same route east of our house. I figured it was experimental/kit plane but didn't realize the sophistication involved. Glad I stumbled on this. Great video and nice flying!!

Man, Ive been flying for over 35 years now, racked up a little over 5670hrs and to strap that Subsonex onto my back would cause me to absolutely loose it with the feeling of being closer phobic. This is as small as the BD Jet
