Don't look for sense in Knight Rider. Only like 4 out of 10 episodes don't make you cringe by watching, and 1-2 out of 10 don't have plotholes or complete misunderstanding of engineering (usually both). This show started with a solid crime sci-fi movie pilot, but then suddenly went downhill to a show for 5 years olds and most scripts feel as if they were written by 7 years olds. This episode here was one of better in the series but still has some obvious absurdities, like unchecked rookie recruits sent to bodyguard a group of political leaders, only to turn out all beings hitmen sent to take them out, or KITT suddenly becoming silly and crude here, while in previous episodes he is brilliant and effortlessly navigates any situation. Ironically one of the best written episodes 'Just My Bill', with political scheme, had the lowest ratings. Probably because kids and beer drinkers were looking for mindless entertainment.
