Ich habe 2 Kater aus einer schlechten Haltung und es hat 1 Jahr gedauert, bis aus ihnen richtige Kater gemacht habe, die Liebe akzeptieren, wollen, und GEBEN! The fastest way to win a cat/kittens trust is a slow blink. Look them in the eyes and blink slowing and deliberately (Even exaggerated so they know your doing it at them intentionally). Cats/kittens see this instinctively as a sign of affection. Works wonders. They don't really get "human" signs of affection like hugging, kissing, ect right away. Even petting them is confusing to them at first (but they do eventually get it).
