This must be an old video the grand hotel still standing I stayed in that many years ago in the early 1960s last time I looked on a video they had demolished it I still love the Isle of Wight

This was filmed in December 2020 - they must've been busy over the winter! I haven't seen Sandown since the beginning of the third lockdown but will go and have a look at the hotel site soon. 😊

it would be much better to have a direct bus service between Newport and Bembridge/ St Helens over the downs road

Agreed - it's such an unnecessarily long journey! I think the Downs Breezer is a bit quicker but it doesn't run from Newport bus station AND it's only a summer service AND it's expensive!

You could make similar comments about quite a few of the routes the way they are at present, always going to and from Newport, which isn'talways neccessary. Years back one went through Sandown, Shanklin, Bonchurch, Ventnor (Niton past the undercliffe, which obviously can't be done these days), Blackgang, and then all the way on the Military Road, to FReshwater Bay, ..
