Good to see someone installing the disabled alarm sensibly. Cord is in case person collapses, falls or has some other emergency. Too many times seem these installed directly above the toilet pan and tied up. If someone were to fall the hope is they could crawl to the cord and tag it on. Can’t really do that if it’s tied up.

In Germany the RCD tripping current by VDE has to be at least half of the stated current or up to the stated current. So 30mA RCDs can trip at any current between 15mA and 30mA.

Fitted a few of those disabled alarm thingies. I have wondered why you can reset it from the outside but i suppose if someone requires assistance it's handy to have the ability to reset it from the outside so you can converse with the person through the door without having to shout over the buzzer. I usually mount the reset/controller thing above the door with the spur, so it's a little more difficult to reset. Don't know why people have issues with MK, those spurs are fine, my only issue with them is the fuse holder isn't always easy to pop out.

That would be too easy... Here in Sweden we use round back boxes that we fit before the wall is up, then we put a "hole in one" magnet in every box, put the sheet of plasterboard over it and drill with a hole saw using a magnetic "finder" and the holes line up perfectly! kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2HXhpadjdaIa5o

Oh, Thomas, you've obviously not thought about Betty too much. She's in the loo and starts to have a seizure and so pulls the chord. Betty's back again with her 3 yr old granddaughter and while doing what she needs to the little tike pulls the chord. You want to be able to tell the people outside it's a false alarm. Rather than catch you with your draws down. They can then just reset it.

the lights are a nice enough feature, probably not that useful though. Everyone carries phones so if it goes dark fumbling over to the fuse box is unlikely, and so you don't really need the light on the fuse box anyway.

At my work for some reason one of the toilets has a cord immediately inside the door that controls the lights in the hall and I was told that several years before I joined there was an incident where the staff wondered why the lights in the hall were switching on and off repeatedly before someone realised what was going on. Still don't know if that was true but it gets told to every new person that joins on our floor.
@JohnDuffell5 жыл бұрын
Regarding the RCD, 30mA is the max, 15mA is the min. That's why the basic tester has 1/2xI and 1xI because it shouldn't trip at half and should at 1x. And 5xI is for testing the speed of reaction.
