Hi, thanks so much for this video! I recently ordered this Venom model, even though I don't know anything about the hobby. Your video will be my step-by-step guide as I build my own heli, and I’m really excited to learn about the process, the tools and stuff I’ll need to get it just right. Can’t wait to dive in!

Thats awesome!! Welcome to scale modeling! You're more than welcome to drop me any questions here in the comments!
@_p1tr1s_Ай бұрын
@@HammerheadModelMaking Thank you! I certainly have a lot of questions, but I will try to Google them up first so I'm not bothering you too much with basic stuff, haha. But there is one question that answers would be hard to find I guess. If you could tell to pre-scale modeling-self one or two things for the start, what would it be? What would you have done better or differently?
@HammerheadModelMakingАй бұрын
@@_p1tr1s_ The biggest thing I would tell my pre-scale modeling self is that its ok to make mistakes. You're first model probably wont come out looking as good as it does in your head. And thats ok. The goal is to learn something from each model you build and take your experience from the last one and apply it to the next one. I know thats kind of a nebulas answer, but really I think it helps with the mind set of not seeking perfection, but seek for the journey and the learning experience.
@_p1tr1s_Ай бұрын
@@HammerheadModelMaking Thank you! That makes absolute sense and it's not nebulas answer to me, I mean, this is what I need to hear (read lol). It is exactly how you described it in the second sentence, I imagine the Venom to be perfect as much as yours is but with my lack of experience it'd probably look not that good. And after all I want to enjoy the process because it's so new to me. And sorry for delayed answer, I'm not getting notifications for some reason.
@HammerheadModelMakingАй бұрын
@@_p1tr1s_ No worries about the delay! Model making is certainly one of those hobbies that you always have the opportunity to improve. Even me, I've been making models for the better part of 20ish years, but I can go back and look at some of my early builds on the channel and see the improvement. There is always something new to learn, which is a big driver for me. I like knowing that no matter how good I think I am, there is always room for improvement. I'm trying to show my mistakes more in my videos now, just to show that they still happen, but also ways to overcome them. Cheers!

Thank you very much on your tutorial post of the UH-1Y Venom build. I have this kit which is yet to be built. I will be able to use your post as reference for the task. As as you've mentioned that this version of the Huey is one you admired the most, so do I. Bell did very well in improving the Huey development to this robust machine with everything 4 bladed main to tail rotors. I've seen this machine flying past the hangar where I work in at Honolulu International Airport. This Venom was booking along at high speed with a sound that sounded mean. I couldn't believe to see that this hybrid Huey moving so fast over the freeway heading toward the city. Your tutorial is so encouraging with passion of your model building.

Thank you for the kind words. This was painted with my Iwata Eclipse, and I believe it had a .5 needle sprayed around 18-20 psi and I let the wash dry for around 30 minutes before wiping the excess.

Yes, I was recently made aware that their molds were purchased by another company, so I would expect to see them back at some point.
@rutgaurxi7314 Жыл бұрын
The funny thing is, you would miss all that extra plastic if it wasn't there, even if most of it isn't visible... It adds such a sense of weight to the model, which matches it's real life counter part, it's quite uncanny. But then again, most of my exposure to this 'copter was through things like Apocalypse Now, The A-Team, Magnum along with other films and TV shows growing up.
