Lilienthal and Wright gliders flying together for the first time in history!

I will never forget this day. It was a historic journey into the past. As I flew the Otto Lilienthal glider side by side with the 1902 Wright flyer I could see it's performance advantage on glide. It has been said that the Lilienthal glider was an animal but the wright flyer was a machine . It was a tribute to Otto Lilienthal and the Wright Brothers and the very beginning of modern aviation. As Otto said " To invent an airplane is nothing, To build one is something, But to Fly is Everything".

I am curious about the 2 models on the back wall, maybe 1 inch to the foot scale. Any video about them? Flyable? I made several models when I flew back in the 80s. Monocote and balsa frames. Lost several to the wind gods waiting for conditions to improve....

Был какой-то советский фильм, сказка. И там главный герой сделал летательный аппарат. Чем то схожий с планером Лилиенталя. Смотрел в детстве, сказка была, но интересно.

The high aspect ratio of the wing and the extremely short moment arm for the rudder is never going to work,where as the lilienthal glider is practically the same as the tried and tested hang glider dimensions and weight shift for control, the Wrights praised lilliethal what a shame they didn't adopt some of his gliders best feature such as dihederal,weight shift,a rudder with more authority and a lower aspect ratio wing.
