The CIA gave Klaus to stan. The CIA would arrest/kill Stan if they found out he was harboring the alien they've been hunting. That's the main difference between when Roger needs to always hide or be disguised and why Klaus can just be himself, but in a fish body.

As someone who loves to keep vodka in the freezer, and has found old vodka of indeterminate age, I can absolutely testify that you cannot freezer burn ethanol and water solutions. I always assumed the difference between Klaus and Roger is honestly just "The CIA know Klaus is with Stan, they don't really care if people know about the brain switching tech so it's not a big deal" vs "The CIA is actively looking for Roger". I loved the Roswell episode too with Bullock Sr. Just the line about "Tell everyone what you saw here if you like, who would ever believe you?", it implies that the issue is less "People will find out Roger is an alien" than "The CIA are looking for Roger and would 100% do horrible things to the Smiths if they find out"

8:18 first of all I want to say that I absolutely love the episode when Klaus solves all the families problems with the help of Roger, and I also really enjoy that episode when Stan and Francine try to live off of minimum wage to prove a point to Jeff and Haley, but my goodness I never understood how Steve and Roger drove all the way from Virginia to Las Vegas and back in the short few days that Stan was out on the street. That is an extremely long drive

To be fair, Roger doesn't belong with anyone give the fact he contantly destroys relationships of all kinds. Family, friends, lovers, etc. Human, alien, even his own species, he's dangerous to be around in general. Even the Smiths aren't fully spared, and if not for their main character status, he'd have ruined them, too. Kloger

@@Ethonra Roger's been shown to be emotionally and psychologically unstable. Even if he likes someone, it always becomes obsessive or he loses interest. It could also be he likes the drama; he once said his home planet sucked because all physical activity there was consensual.

@@Ethonra He really is, though most of the people in the show are too; all of the Smiths have been shown to do awful things. Heck, after getting drunk and signing a contract to quit their vices for Lent or else Bullock would chop off the first person's finger, they faked their deaths and blamed it on Francine encouraging the bet, managing to trick her into smoking and almost letting her get her finger chopped off. They just focus on Roger's insanity because it was random, unpredictable and highly dangerous.

@@OpticalSorcerer Absolutely. But it is really the hapless, relatively innocent people Roger torments I feel bad for. Like that waitress he scalped just because she didn't compliment his order. Or Isabela, a genuinely kind and amazing woman (in the show at least, Idk if she was a real life reference) that he framed for the worst crime imaginable (after framing Francine) when an easier and objectively better solution would have been to just confess as the little girl that snowballed the issue in the first place, just to name very, very few. My favorite episodes are basically whenever Roger gets his karma.

@@Ethonra I do feel bad for Roger's hapless victims, though it does seem to be a personality disorder mixed with loneliness; he thinks of something that SOUNDS like a good idea and makes a persona based on it--plus he's a masochist as well as a sadist, so he enjoys being in situations that could harm him, especially since most people can't recognize him when he's out of a particular costume (which itself makes an interesting video; sometimes they can see his true form, or just his real size/build and skin color).

tbh I more see them as two uncles from two different side of the family. Like your mothers brother and your fathers brother. Or like your Sister starts dating your Bf's Brother. When I saw the thumbnail to this video my response was "Ya think?" But it was worthwhile to watch this all the way through anyway. I completely forgot about the Haley pink eye and Steve avoiding Presidential fitness test subplot. Honestly when I've already seen even as a child in the 90s when animal cartoon characters are actually kissing human cartoon characters and this even goes back to well before I was born with Looney tunes which of course was on rerun throughout the 90s anyways, I just don't really think it's a big deal that Roger and Klaus are doing it. Especially since at the time I was also watching BoJack Horseman and there were already sexual relationships between humans and anthropomorphize animals. Not to mention Brian the dog had sex with a lot of humans already at that point.

IDK about that; Hayley's shown at times to like a man with initiative while simultaneously liking to dominate and control him. Even when she saw how little intelligence/initiative he has, she's still went back to him even after their breakups. There's also some guilt/pity/selfishness there since Stan's dislike of Jeff fuels her wanting to be with him (they do share some values, even if inconsistent), as well as Jeff's own sad life.
