Last night I listened to the REAL Buddy Holly story told by the one guy who didn't get on the 4 seater plane. Dion DiMucci was on the school bus and so were the Belmonts. Dion became a heavy drug used to cope with the loss of those men who were like brothers to him. His video on EWTN, a Catholic channel on YT tells the story of how he started asking questions, got clean and found God. It was the most inspiring story of healing and salvation I've ever heard.

I agree,Steve gaona,Richie Valens was a unique musician, talented, who opened the way to Chicano Rock. Even he was so young when he became famous,he had a charisma and was a complete adult man who has his place in the world of music. His songs are timeless. So sad that he and his musical colleagues died so young, how much of good songs they could do for their fans.

Let me explain, I bet it was because the biggest of them Holly, is the whole reason, the name Big Bopper is still around. As I was one of the people in Europe, who had seen what a huge talent was lost. He was completely forgotten in the US. Way in to the early sixtees, post mortem songs became huge hits, in England, the Netherlands because of people like John Beecher in England. Not until the British so-called invasion with Beatles, Hollies etceteras, all those bands, telling the USA they were most inspired by Holly, that's when the US woke up. Not because of Valens, not because of the Bopper!

I have a unique idea for a short film about the crash. It starts out with the three arriving at the airport, paying their fares, and boarding the plane, all excited to be getting ahead long enough to rest and clean their clothes. Then the plane goes down with a huge crash...there is a moment of intense pain and then they are thrown clear. Buddy comes too, and picks himsaelf off the ground and sees Ritchie and pilot Roger Peterson, also getting up. "Wow, what the hell just happened guys?" Ritchie replies "I don't know, man, I just heard a big bang and boom, here we are." Roger says "Man I don't know.....the ground just appeared in front of us....we were supposed to be going up but somehow we went down instead." Buddy looked back at the wreckage and was shocked "man will you look at the plane? It's all rolled up! How did we get out of that?" Just then the Bopper comes over saying "Man what the hell happened? A big boom and here I am in some cornfield, and oh my Gawd, look at our plane! " Roger says "man we had beter think about how we are getting back to the airport, we got no way to call them and tell them what happened to us, and we got to get out of this cold." Just then, Ritchie calls out to them "Hey guys, you might want to come see this....I got a funny feeling." the four of them walk over to the side of the wreckage and in the dim light of the stars, they see two bodies. Buddy looks down closely and says "Uh.....guys, ....I don't know how to say this, but that looks kind like me. And this one next to it kinda looks like you, Ritchie." Bopper says "uh guys I'll be back in a second." A moment later, Bopper returned and said grimly "Guys....where I picked myself up from? There's a body over there....and it's me, and I got a strange feeling....how do you all feel? Because I feel fine, like I don't have a cold or flu anymore. I don't even feel cold, I feel kinda warm all over." Ritchie said "Yeah....I don't have my cold anymore, and I feel warm too, like it's not even cold out here, but it should be, just look at the snow. What does this all mean?" It was Roger who spoke the words they all feared... "Guys, I think I know why we survived.....because we didn't....those are your bodies there, and I think I know where I'm at..." walking over to the wreckage, he leaned over and peered into the wreckage and saw himself rolled up in the wrecked plane "yes....I'm in there.....and this means..." Buddy finished for him "we're all dead, that's why." Just then the night was split by a blinding light that appeared to beckon them. Bopper spoke for them "Guys.....I think we should go to the light." the four of them walked to the light and were submerged in its brightness. When the four of them were in the light, it winked out, and the night sky went dark again, the wreckage and bodies waiting to be discovered hours later in the daylight.

This was a catalogue of disasters that led to the sad and tragic death of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and JP “The Big Bopper” Richardson, and of course the young pilot, Roger Peterson. 1 The ridiculously poor planning of the tour, where they were continuously going forwards and backwards across the mid west, and doing so in old, badly maintained school buses, which must have been freezer like conditions for the artists, being in mid-winter, especially in the Mid-West. 2 These musicians should have been looked after a lot better with accommodation, and access to important everyday things. Even considering the above: 3 The ill-fated flight from Clear Lake, should never have happened! The weather conditions were horrendous and not thoroughly checked, the pilot was incompetent and unable to properly use the instrumentation on the plane, and it was in pitch darkness! It was a suicidal flight and unfortunately they crashed only 5 miles after leaving Clear Lake.

If buddy holly did not die he would still be quite disliked for rock and roll and probably Frowned upon like his early years of music. His and Ritchie and Jiles aka big bopper changed the impact on music massively.it’s tragic but it’s good that it changed music. The deaths tragic but in a way if it didn’t happen people would see Buddy Holly a lot differently than we do today.
