Yah. Finally a Class 30 (EF) out of the depot and running. I live close to Taumarunui and had just about given up seeing an EF in this part of the world. What was the problem? Great video!

It's been a bit rough the past few months Had 3 of them break down, then the track was misaligned with the overhead wires when the ballast cleaner went through and when they tried realigning it the ground was sinking and eating the ballast and then the substations the supply power to the overheads have some faults or something so they can't be turned on resulting in no EFs for a while. However, they will be back soon (hopefully).

Great drone footage(as usual). 👍Have you been told why the front windows have that black "mask" around them? I was surprised with the stretching of the air hoses when the locos were uncoupled. Must the the way nowadays...

Thanks. I think it's to do with the escape window on the LA side. (In case of an accident). I could be wrong, and it could just be part of the livery.
