Polynesians have dominated RL and imo threaten the egos of the committees that govern RL in Australia. If Australia expanded it's competition to include ancestral rep footy all year round it could really provide something awesome. The product would be a great Competition of The Islands. Rather the NRL is dying and State Of Origin is the only highlight. Something which has become a giant money grabbing spectacle. It's also an Archaic way of presenting the sport in this so called "globalized" world. Narrowing the sport down to two states and completely ignoring the diversity which is right there blaring is not thinking outside the box. So many top athletes are put to the side during Origin, and so much expansion possibilities are also not utilized during the rest of the season. Competing with the other 2 football codes is pointless. AFL is the country's game, it's dominating. "Soccer" is fluctuating, not really played at a high level in Australia (hence Bolt) while NRL repeats the same thing over and over hoping that something will magically change and numbers will start to increase. It's idiotic.

@DVN Your point is valid but you've highlighted playmakers, which.. YES is a "White mind" position. That's another can of worms entirely... because these play makers are what the game wants represented in the media. Thurston was really the only non-white play maker that stood on the stage of ""media darlings". My point should be reworded. So what I really mean then is that POLYS dominate by representation in the game overall. They don't stand out as greats as much but they actually, make up the game. What the Tonga victory over AUS showed is that a) Australia took it for granted. b) with some good coaching the Polynesians nations would most certainly dominate in every aspect, given the chance. That's my point also.. that old white heads in committees that have the say on the game have halted that for a long time. It happens in every sport. Look at cricket. Australia has had Indians in society for well over 40 years.. yet NOT ONE gets to play for Australia. Because the old heads that say what the team will look like don't want that. Look at AFL W... they claim diversity and run ad campaigns claiming that from all walks these females are uniting under the sport of AFL for W... Yet the teams are almost 100% white females. Australia claims multicultural.. Bullshit... to the world they still want to present pure white talent... with a token "browny" here and there.
