Quel pied. Merci c est bon c est beau. Belle transmission . Bravo.

Superb music writing and playing. I’m afraid to admit I just discovered them randomly through a live performance with Pat Metheny. Pat only plays with outstanding artists and est certainly fit the bill. I’ll have to explore as much as I can. Sad that we lost him.

I love the vision of the songs. How they make it grows. This jazz is different, it mixes some styles and the brand is European jazz. Also incorporating new and different sounds, with effects, etc. A new way to find another sound for a more avant-garde jazz. Music is a good place to try things ... why is not done often?
@FuckFeminists2 жыл бұрын
I dont know why its not done more often, and thats a source of great irritation. Of course, this one is very very special. Must say though, this isnt 'European' jazz. Nothing can accurately be described as 'european' anyway. Its Swedish jazz, or Scandinavian jazz , if geography is the most relevant thing to name it after. Really though, its some sort of balance or blend of mellow Jazz, Third Stream, and the French Modernists of the late 1800s-early 1900s. Mixed with several different genres.
@FuckFeminists Жыл бұрын
It does annoy me that the best are not imitated more. Why do we have Deftones in metal, and no one really takes that on? Oasis in rock, no one mimics. Faure, Debussy, Ravel. Their talent is there, but who continues it? I have asked the question 'who else, other than EST?' Unsatisfying answers. He was on another planet, of course. Its not like we can expect someone to capture this genius often. But a third or a half of it would be nice... Incidentally, the word 'European' is so loaded and fake. The brand, if there be one, is 'French Impressionism'-inspired alternative jazz. Debussy didn't like the phrase, preferring 'Modernism', and that's really where real jazz comes from. EST is an extremely 'modern' form of music. And, tragically, all too unique. But the authenticity and trueness to what music should be is something to seek in others.

Horrible video. I was so upset, I had to stop after the first tune. The camera telecoms on Esbjörn nails and ears so super close that whole experience is lost. We never see Magnus, only small parts of him and his drum kit. This is terrible. Great music otherwise, of course.
