I did the same thing recently... For all the items I just couldn't bear to part with yet, or I wasn't sure about, I put them into a box and hid them in my wardrobe. I then went back to them recently when I had the urge to go shopping for new makeup, and it felt just like I was shopping... but for free. I'm probably the only one who started this series backwards, yep this is the last one, so far, but it was the one that started the whole series. You really did do so well, I know when I did mine (I also decided to go cruelty free) I felt so good after. Love the guidelines you set yourself, I might just do that also. I don't usually comment on videos but I have to say, I was completely caught off guard by this one. I've never seen anything like this make-up collection in my life! I've always kept all my make-up in a pencil case and it never occurred to me to buy more. lol. I'm excited to watch your de-cluttering videos and see how much you end up keeping. It's so interesting to hear you talk about make-up as something you've done for a career and you have an actual interest in.

I'm in a similar situation where I have acquired so much over the years as I'm always into trying something new (without waiting first to finish the products I am using). Given I spend so much on these things, I'm also reluctant to throw them out. I also have a bad habit of buying back ups of brand new products and then moving on to something new (which means I have plenty of new, unopened products). But, but putting in place a policy where I have to use up what I buy, it makes me think twice when I'm about to purchase something "do I really want to commit to finishing this product?". I like your philosophy on whether or not it's bringing you joy. I'm on board for a declutter/using up my products phase. Laura from 'buynowbloglater' used to have a project 10 pan initiative which I liked. It's easier to target 10 or so products I want to finish in a month. Good luck with this and with the move!!

npiche1 I have the same problem! If I find something I think I love I end up buying 2 and never using the backup! Good luck with your declutter, I'm sure you'll do great! npiche1 I love the "does it bring you joy" idea as well. I am going through my makeup right now because mine is overwhelming..and I am trying to go by "do I love it?" I figure that I don't need things that I don't love. I always tend to try to use those things up when I should be using the things that I really like.

I've been on the same kick. I found they I had to de clutter in rounds. I would get rid of stuff and then a month later go thru again and get rid of all the stuff that for some reason I held onto. It becomes much clearer and like why did I keep that?! Also I keep a collection of stuff out/separate that I use on a daily/weekly basis. I stick to it, change up as necessary, and it helps me go thru things quickly.

I'm cutting way back and only want to own exactly what I need and love. I would like all my makeup to be used up in a season or a year at most and all fit into a regular sized cosmetic bag. Makeup goes bad much faster nowadays. I invest in good skincare and get my makeup free through gwp now. So I can toss out old stuff and have a steady supply of free new stuff.

You should really consider doing a blog sale. A blog sale would be perfect seeing as you have so many products that have been hardly/never used and obviously spent a lot of your hard earned money on. You'll be de-cluttering, making money, and those who really want to try higher end (mac, nars etc) can maybe get a better deal on products than if they had bought them at full retail price

Love this! I'm doing the same with my makeup and beauty products. I already started the capsule wardrobe last year, but I'm going back to work this year so I have to go ahead and buy for that. Makeup has been a difficult thing for me because it's hard for me to let go of things, but I started the 100 days I empties on Instagram ad once that's done I'll be going through everything and downsize. CaraLeaG I am getting better about buying colors that I will wear..so that's a start. Now I just need to go through all of the older stuff that I have that doesn't get used. I had 6 orange lipsticks and I barely ever wear orange. I have it down to 3 now..but I think that I need to go through those again! I dread going through my blushes.
