Legend. In the later 70´s, when I started to watch TT, I always thoght he should use "Hammaren" more often. I didn't realize that skilled opponents wouldn't let him do that. Suffered from many injuries, but a pleasure to watch. My first blade was a Stiga Kjell Johansson. And the footage is sensational, Thanks.

I had no idea Berczik had an attacking game. I saw him as a basic defender. Perhaps because it was the last few points and he knew chopping was futile against... the hammer.

He was attacking more often toward the end of his career. At least, that's what it shows in some of those retro footages. We will have a video about his career later on.

He changed into an attacker because the invention of the loop topspin made chop defence a losing game
