KKND Extreme, a classic nice RTS game from good old days. I toke the challenge on my own against 3 Hard enemies. Only the first 10 minutes was a challenge. But when I got everything under control, the rest was easy......

So the strategy would be if all those units are acquired. Keep the barrage crafts behind the autocannon tanks and anaconda tanks. Snipers behind the barrage crafts. Always infantry behind tanks. Should be a rule of thumb. The autocannon tanks anaconda tanks engage the enemy. While the enemy is distracted firing at them. The barrage craft fires 120 missiles if you have 20 barrage crafts attack the enemy at once and all missiles should hit the enemy not the ground besides them. It looks cool on screen but doesn't damage the enemy. This way when all 120 missiles hit the enemy. Their army will be wiped out. The snipers will pick out any stragglers that try to avoid missiles. Aka sidecars, wolves, and monster trucks.. unbeatable really.

WauWsy Because KKND 2 was ourshined by Starcraft. I personally think KKND 2 have its own charm such as air unit control and constructable. But the balance is quite horrible. Basically defender have a huge advantage compare with attacker.

@@farryalfa1796 Wrong! Every 3 Species have their own special type to play it. Most Survivor Vehicles have turrets and can fire until they move! So a good micromanagment and movement can avoid damage. (Good against Evolved and against some Series 9 Units, because the projectiles from their units are slow) Most Series 9 Infantery cant be roadkilled from vehicles and they make also more damage. Thats the reason why they are so expensive in compare to the other species. (Good against the Survivors ATV's & Enforcer and the Evolved's Pit Scorpions & Missle Crabs) The Evolved has the Scourge Demon which is in fact the strongest infantery unit and their defence buildings does more damage and some has more range in compare to the other species. (Good against the Survivors & Series 9 Infantery units and siege units.) Also in the small Unit Creator tool which is ingame did you get the special units which you looking for.

@Conget, maybe so but you would have saved your barrage crafts from being destroyed if you had a ton of snipers behind them, and maybe 2 autocannon tanks, and 2 siege tanks. this is how it works, the autocannon tanks engage the enemy, and the evolved infantry attack them, the snipers pick off the little guys, and the rain of missiles from the barrage craft all are gonna be on the beetles and missile crab, using this tactic I didn't lose a single barrage craft, its cheap as hell but its flawless, I have even beaten a team of missile crabs and beetles using this method.

I never understood why the Evolved creatures (scorpions, etc) exploded, and never squished or anything - probably laziness on the devs part, not wanting to animate an extra death sequence. I was a Sniper fan though. A group of at least 25 Snipers took out ANYTHING in seconds, and rarely got killed. Plus, they healed at Vet status, their range was over what was listed, and they just were plain overpowered.

I wouldn't say laziness, but more like deadlines. Remember that this game was supposed to be a quick C&C clone (and it was) and they wanted to quickly this RTS game while this genre was trendy (and at the same time it died quickly due too many RTS games in the market back then). And as far as I remember, the only vehicle which has own dying animation is Dire Wolf.

The sniper is good but not strong against missile crabs and beetles. That's where the anaconda tanks and autocannon tanks and barrage crafts come to play. The biggest mistake survivors newbies do is they just have their units stand there and trade blows. This is naive and very silly. The survivor units move faster for a reason. Use their speed!!!! With proper micro the survivors always win. You know you can move those tanks while firing right? You don't need to stand there like a klutz while the beetle fires it's acid. Then while those missile crabs and beetles engage the anaconda tanks, autocannon tanks, and snipers, group those barrage crafts in a separate group and order them to fire its long range missiles while the evolved army gets distracted with the autocannon tanks, anaconda tanks, and snipers. That's how you best abuse the missiles of the barrage craft since it fires 6 missiles. Did I mention it's fires 6 missiles with 100 percent accuracy when it hits veteran status? So also build a repair bay. If you maintain 20 barrage crafts at vet status. No way the survivors ever lose. Ah these wonderful hacks. Now you should never lose. I honestly would love to see some tournament play between human opponents as the ai in this game is a cakewalk. I'd like to see elite level StarCraft players like jaedong and stork and bisu play this game. I honestly utilized the strategy that they used in StarCraft here on KKND. I found that barrage crafts work just like siege tanks from the Terrans do in StarCraft.

Barrage Tanks = OP No AI can ever counter a barrage of barrage crafts. (screw snipers. The AOE damage barrage crafts gives out is simply destructible, only that it's drawback is friendly fire)

I feel bad for the beetles. They get PTSD when they see an autocannon tank. Those things are a beetles worst nightmare. The beetle moves slowly and has to stand still to fight. The autocannon tank can move while firing. And when it moves it can't be hit with the beetle acid goop. While the beetle gets a ton of bullets and destroyed. Lol. The evolved army is a joke compared to the survivor.

Beetles were mostly good against buildings, humans or gap defending since you can just aim couple of them and keep firing on certain spot.

@@conget yeah but why be good ole boy and have your units stand still while the giant beetles do their acid attack thingie? Let's look at disadvantages of the beetle that can be easily exploited. The beetle moves slowly and has to stand still while firing, which the anaconda tank can easily exploit and it moves very fast easily dodging the acid. In the hands of a skilled player if you strafe and circle around the beetle making it move 360 degrees even a flame atv can destroy a beetle. The barrage crafts should be individually grouped so you can beat abuse the 6 missiles it fires. The autocannon tanks, anaconda tanks, and snipers engage the enemy, while the enemy fights those units the barrage crafts unloads all missiles on those units. Once these hacks are utilized the survivors beat the evolved easily. I just utilized StarCraft tournament player logic of Terran into this game..

try this strategy instead, build autocannon tanks, siege tanks, and snipers, then barrage crafts. through tournament gameplay I found that the barrage craft work best as mobile guard towers, have the siege tanks and autocannon tanks engage the enemy, and then have the barrage craft sit at the very back chucking out missiles while the enemy is preoccupied firing at your siege tanks, autocannon's and snipers, that's the best way I found to abuse the slow moving barrage craft missiles

Love this game and still playing it! My fav maps is the one in this video and "bridge too far". 1 question- how do u auto select the units without the mouse? BTW did u know u can make the giant beetle fire as fast as u can click? Just click on target, then randomly somewhere and again on target. Thats fun as hell :'D

@@HatlabuFarkas That's because KKND 2 was more balanced. But the way it achieved that was by basically copy-pasting C&C games. People thought KKND1 was the C&C clone... oh boy lol. Everything unique to 1 got dumbed down in Krossfire, like the Wilbur Bomber becoming just a regular aircraft that hardly damages anything anymore. There were no more corny but fun cinematics in mission briefings. Basically they tried too hard to be a balanced game and took themselves too seriously to the game's detriment. I don't know, that's just my take on it.

You need anaconda tanks and barrage crafts in front of them to take fire from the beetles and missile crabs though. They're heavy armor too much for the crabs and beetles to handle. I also like the autocannon tanks because they mow through buildings and guard towers and beetles like nobody else. The beetles are scared when they see an autocannon tank. Let's see an autocannon tank has unlimited ammo and it's turreted. I found out it can easily waste a missile crab just by moving it around while it's attacking the crab. The slow moving missiles will never hit the autocannon tank and meanwhile the crab has a ton of bullets tearing it apart.

Not quite. Missile crabs and beetles eat those snipers and tear them apart. Better to utilize barrage crafts and autocannon tanks at the front and use snipers from the rear.

@@donniebrasco1364 Nah, beetles are slower than snipers so snipers cam kite them. And they also have a slightly superior rage. Get a squad of 5 snipers and make them red (experienced), the small troops are excellent snacks for them. After that point beetle is helpless unless it manages to attack. Missile crabs are more problematic since they got bigger range than snipers. But since they fire slowly, they are still kiteable (to a lesser extent than Beetle) Uss barrage crafts like airstrik irl. Make them fire 6 shots and withdraw them back. I agree autocannon tanks work really well with snipers. But in all honesty, you don't need them when u have snipers. 1 sniper costs 200 and 1 autocannon tank is 1200 afaik. 6 snipers have more firepower than 1 autocannon tank, not even disputed.

You seem to not know how to abuse the barrage craft. If you have 20 barrage crafts it fires 120 missiles altogether before the long delay of having to reload all those missiles. That's where snipers come in handy along with anaconda tanks to provide support and cover fire also add in autocannon tanks because autocannon tanks and snipers have unlimited ammo. Especially if those pesky sidecars and dire wolves try to run past missiles or missile towers which you shouldn't build if fighting against skilled human opponents, build cannon towers instead.

That might be a good tactic, but the fact that i rather control the barage tank is to launch all the rockets to the first enemy mob. If i retreat a little bit, enemy which was behind the first mob will walk in the barrage rockets themself and get destroyed, Secondly, because I retreat, it gives me extra period of time to reload the rockets and then doing the same thing as above again. The main thing is that i need them as a pack

I guarantee you if you utilize the anaconda tank, autocannon tank, and snipers. Group all those units together. Then make another group with barrage crafts you won't even have a single casualty. Don't be a hardheaded KZbinr. This is based on personal experience not whatever personality exists on social media. Have the evolved engage your autocannon tanks, anaconda tanks, and snipers. While those units are being engaged have the barrage crafts fire its missiles at the evolved. That way all those missiles lay into the evolved without worrying about friendly fire or reload time. Also that way the missiles don't hit the ground around the evolved but tears them apart. Hitting the ground looks cool but doesn't kill the enemy.

also let the computer ai control the barrage crafts, in other words don't have all barrage crafts fire at one enemy unit at a time, the ai itself will automatically engage the enemy that stupidly attacked it, so in other words, if its gonna be 20 barrage craft of yours against 50 enemy units, instead of manually targeting them a bunch at a time, just let the barrage craft go a little before the firing range, and let the barrage craft ai naturally hit the enemy, you won't lose one barrage craft.

Xarx3s until you get overwhelmed by dozens of footmen of all kind, and are forced to back off, and then die because snipers arnt fast enough to kite with. You cannot kill anything in the game with 5 of them. with 50, maybe, but its hard.

Jean-Baptiste Poquelin All infantry move at the same speed, Veteran snipers kill any infantry in one shot and out range any other infantry by at least 1 tile. They can't just stand on the same tile and kill anything that comes along, they do need to move immediately after they shoot to stop themselves from being overran. Hence "proper micro". As for vehicles/beasts, 5 veteran snipers can instantly kill anything up to the beetle, the rocket crab will be on red HP. The reason why 5 is the perfect number, is that they can all fit on one tile minimizing the area the enemy can hit while still packing a large punch. which is important due to the main threats being the Crab, Beetles and Rocketeers who have the range to compete with Snipers but have slow moving projectiles that are easily avoided. The devs even acknowledge how powerful snipers are with mission in which you told to take out an entire base and only given a single sniper to do so. Which is also what prompted me to see how few snipers you need to do other missions/kaos mode.

I do agree wih almost everything you have said, exepct that snipers moves slightly faster than other infantries (run a test by yourself you ll see). BUT. from what i read you are saying that 5 snipers can kill one single unit of anything in the game, i was actually talking about an ingame situation, where the AI will just create a massive blob of units and throw everything at you, which WILL overrun you, even with 25 infantries and "proper micro". But yes, 5 snipers can kill anything in the game. One by one though. Also, im not sure on this one, but i believe beetles have 1square less than a standing still sniper. To be tested again though, as it seems standing snipers have more range than moving snipers ? I recall having trouble taking out the tier 3 towers in missions by clicking on them because my snipers would go in their range, but if i move them one square by one, they would actually start firing at it out of range. Can you relate on this ? (P.S in my memory, you actually have 5 snipers to do the sniper mission, not one. plus rocket lauchers and various infantry)

Jean-Baptiste Poquelin The mission where you get just a single sniper is called The Infiltrator, there's footage of it on youtube (watch?v=uu76ivVWvxw) And I was talking about in game situations, While it is true that the AI will make a massive blob of units, the AI isn't that smart. It will send all of the blob to attack at once from it's base and it won't take into account the different speeds at which the units will travel. Very quickly the blob becomes an easily manageable trickle feed as the quicker units (Dire wolves, bike and sidecar, Monster trucks) reach the fight long before the stronger units. As for the range problem, I think the range is radius based and not tile based. So it's possible that some of the 5 positions on the tile that the sniper could be in are out of range. So it will move 1 whole tile over so it can be in range, giving the illusion that sometimes moving snipers a shorter range than stationary ones.

Does anyone from you remember that bug with beetles spitting faster? That was my favourite, and it was also a reason why did I play only Mutants. Snipers were of course op, but at some point totally beatable with swarm of beetles using that exploit.

Nope beetles are so slow even anaconda tanks easily beat them with speed and circling around beetle the slow acid goop can't hit them And beetles are very big target. The anaconda tank and autocannon tank are survivors greatest weapon. I group those barrage crafts by hitting the shift and number 2 button on keyboard. Then when the evolved is distracted by my other units I let loose with the barrage crafts therefore ensuring that all 6 missiles hit the evolved. Yeah the evolved army is pretty much vaporized after that crabs included.

The only survivors that lose to evolved are the good ole boys and naive idiots. Why do survivor units have to stand still while the evolved fire? Ever thought about moving the survivor units while they fire????!?!? Lightbulb 💡! With proper micro the survivors always win! They are faster and can hit and run. Even my anaconda tank beats their strongest unit the missile crab.

@@conget nope you don't know how to use the survivor units. They are faster and can mess up the evolved quicker. Even a flame ATV can beat their beetle. The key is to strafe around their units. Aka circle around their units. Even anaconda tanks can beat their missile crabs using strafe. They are surprisingly fast 45 mph. As opposed to mammoth tanks lousy 35 mph. Plus mammoth tank is bigger target. Requires more micro than evolved but more cost effective. The only tough unit they have is the crazy harry but because they move slowly the missiles from barrage craft beat them. An anaconda tank or ATV can plow through them like butter.

I'd like to know as well since i've downloaded KKnD Xtreme full versions and the least I can get is a weirdly negatively-colored menu screen and so forth but nothing on the good ol' Main Missions, loved those and I can't get to them with the BS negative-colors, wish there could be a way to install it right with those classic FMVs intact. XD "Maybe one day we could... all build sand castles again... Dismissed." :P lol

+HTankGlory dos box should be pretty easy. download it and open it up. type d:run. or something. you can youtube or google the commands. but saving was the issue i had
