KKR Says Investors Are ‘Too Focused’ on Credit Spreads

“We like credit right now, we think it’s a higher-resting heartrate for rates,” says Chris Sheldon, partner and co-head of credit markets at KKR, as his firm thinks investors are missing out on bargains further down the credit rating spectrum.

Funny, public companies have been using debt to issue dividends at record pace since 2008, and no one bats an eye. You hear the word dividend in private credit, and people seem weary. Where else should the money go? If it isn't a positive NPV project, or an add-on (why pay up right now?), it is better with investors than on balance sheet.
