I think sometimes even critics can fail to assess things well. KLRahul has been so much backed up but he doesn’t perform like a senior player. Remember ordinary bowlers like Steve O'Keeffe, Tod Murphy, Hartley, Basheer etc all have troubled India. India are no more comfortable playing spinners. KL is a great player without doubt but I feel he is either got injured at the wrong time or he has not been performing consistently. I would hope he plays the remaining domestic season this yr and probably play a full county season(first class and List A) in England next year. My best XI for tour down under in the batting order (Subject to everyone's fitness) : Jaiswal, Gill, Sarfaraz, Virat, Pant (wk), Hardik, Jadeja, Ashwin, A Deep, Bumrah, Siraj I did not include Rohit here simply bcoz I heard that he is not gonna be there for the first 2 tests. Hardik should push himself to play at least in this high-profile series. If Shami is available I will pick him in place of Siraj, the latter seems to have lost his mojo of picking up wickets regularly of late. On the other hand, A Deep looks pretty good with pace and control also a lot more stuff using the long handle to good effect for cameos in the backend. Hardik's presence in the MO will lend Ind a perfect balance as an allrounder that too on pacy Aussie pitches, he could be more than handy

If we deep dive into KL Rahul's stat to throw him away then it would be fair to examine other's stats. For example, Rohit hasn't probed his class in test cricket. Be it in Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, England. He hasn't done much in SENA tests. Note: Rohit hasn't scored even a single 50+ score in a test inning in South Africa. Thus, KL Rahul and Sarfaraz are deserved to play. The playing 11 should be as; 1. S. Gill, 2. Y. Jaiswal, 3. KL Rahul (c), 4. V. Kohli, 5. S. Khan, 6. R. Pant (wk), 7. R. Jadeja, 8. R. Ashwin, 9. A.
