Castlevania Bloodlines Speedrun: John Morris Expert Mode Any% in

After 4 years of various route refinements and failed attempts to truly grind this down to where it should be, the unthinkable happened and Castlevania Bloodlines now has a sub 29 minute run on Expert Difficulty.
Over the course of a week I improved my old time of 29:33 multiple times and realized Sub 29 had to be the final goal. This run gets there, finishing only 8 seconds off of my sum of best. I am incredibly proud of this run.
There are a couple minor mistakes as there almost always are in runs of this length and requiring this much execution, but I am so happy to hit this milestone with the modern route changes. This run is so damn difficult, and while I may go back and try to shave off another 5 seconds somewhere down the line, I am ecstatic that I was able to get this done.
The original run was streamed live on my twitch channel over at twitch.tv/Klaige The castlevania collection has a fanastic replay feature which allows me to provide this recording with great clarity. I will be uploading the run with commentary down the road as well for those of you who enjoy that!
Special shoutouts to the JP speedrun community who've been showing some interest in Bloodlines and helped spawn some new ideas for me to try and make for the last few refinements of the route. My plan this year is to put together clean runs of every difficulty for both characters on both the NA and JP versions.

Great run, i noticed at 6:19 that the sub weapon candle dropped an axe, but you got a crystal, is that a glitch?

No. When you get the most powerful whip (the energy whip, which he had for most of the run), you also get a crystal sub-weapon. You can lose the crystal by either getting hit (which will also lose the energy whip) or by picking up another sub-weapon; however, as long as you still have the energy whip, you can get the crystal back by picking up a sub-weapon you already have.

The blades have 4 single pixel hitboxes, evenly spaced on each side. There is just enough room to squeeze between them. Why the devs settled on all of 4 pixels per side for the gigantic blade death traps i'll never know but it works out well in my favor as a speedrunner ^_^
