This video should be a masterclass on how to shoot something amazing on a budget. The location, the light, the characters, the relatively small but very effective use of CGI. It's just wonderful and all works so well. Seriously props to everyone involved here.

I believe every character in the film represent a different feeling of the main character and the way they approach him and the distance they are from him, shows how are these feelings affecting him and how he is dealing with it at the end of the world. I risk even to mention that the guy in the bicycle is vanity, the nun is faith, dancing girl is joy, robber is greedy, girl in red is love.

O vídeo retrata o caos do mundo moderno e das relações humanas. O homem retrata o desespero após perder tudo que ele amava na busca pelo dinheiro e o poder. O homem na bicicleta, o qual ele ignora em todos os momentos é a culpa por tudo de errado que ele fez, ou seja, em nenhum momento ele se arrepende dos seus atos passados. A freira representa a religião, que muitos usam como fachada para tentarem limpar seus pecados, mas acaba sendo um fardo para eles quando sabem que dentro de si, continuam em festa pelas suas escolhas. A representação da mulher dançando é quando ele precisa escolher entre viver na vida que ele queria ou se arrepender dos pecados e continuar seguindo o caminho da redenção, no final, ele escolhe a si mesmo. Tomado pelo egoísmo ele se vê obrigado pelo tempo, representado pelo ladrão a se desfazer de tudo o que tem, pois o fim já se aproxima e bens materiais já não o servem mais. Após perder tudo ele vai atrás daquilo que realmente importava na vida dele, as pessoas ou a pessoa que ele amava, está já não o atende mais, pelo fato dele ter a deixado tempos atrás, agora ele tenta desesperadamente reatar aquele elo, reunindo sua culpa e redenção, representados pelo homem da bicicleta e a freira, enquanto ele é julgado por todos aqueles o qual ele fez mal, representados pela mulher de macacão azul no final, e de fora, o tempo representado pelo ladrão, contando o tempo que ele tem para que seja perdoado, caso isso seja possível. Resumindo, o vídeo fala sobre egoísmo, culpa, desespero e redenção.

It is art. Yes... but from here to call it most impressive music video ever, is exagerated in my opinion.

I think the meaning behind this video is guilt, and how it stalks you throughout your life and eats away at you. (Shown by the guy following him, and how the guy is looking worse and worse as the video goes on). The guy has woken up to what he has done (shows at the start of the video) and tries to run away from it all. (The guilt). The black woman dancing shows his previous carelessness and how hedonistic he was. It shows his lust, his materialism. (Shown by the fact that she's dancing carefree in the middle of town, with a mad smile on her face; in a dressing gown). The made guy on the bicycle might also represent this or some other sin. He may just be there to mock the guy though. All this is further backed up by the lyrics, which describe the (horrible) things he's done in life and how corrupt he (and the world) are. A example would be "little girls and boys with little hands.. not useful for nothing" which depicts how cold the business model is, and how it only cares about one thing: the money. (Child labor/sweatshops. Looking at you Primark) The meteors in the sky may mean that it's doomsday (which explains a lot of things) and all those who you see left on the planet (except the woman in red) are those left behind for not doing right. These meteors may have been prevented due to the protagonist giving her to the angels, which tells us he's showing compassion, and is regretting what he has done. (Shown by just how troubled he is, and how he looks like he's in a nightmare realising what he has done). This final act may have redeemed him and set the world right. Which leads me to believe the guy represents a much larger group of people. I'm really not sure on that part though. Nevertheless this is an absolutely amazing song, and an equally amazing music video that goes perfectly with it. The cinematography is on point. :D

My interpretation: This guy is dead, the meteors are the soul of the deads rising up to the sky, the nun in the wheelchair is the responsibility which he cannot take anymore and must be taken by others, losing his clothes is the act of free himself of all burden and the red dressed girl represent the reunion with people he loved and who are already dead, the guy on the bycicle stands for his mistakes he made and which pursue him.

fernd luzder the guy that follows him is death itself who steals the guys watch and takes his clothes symbolising losing track of time and orientation and forgetting who you are. He is also missing his wedding ring because.... well "til death do us part" and the lady in blue at the end are the people at his side while he dies. Thats at least my part of the interpretation aditionally to what you said, but however, this video really gets you thinking, I love it
