This hymn expresses all the feelings that church who longed for the rescue of truth which is the Word of God; expresses a true faith, which does not accept heresy. Wunderbar! the modal-tonal harmonies are tipical of XV cent. Praetorius and Monteverdi were masters of this dicotomy....
Thank you! I like it because the grand theme of the music is about God. And when the musician sings plainly, the message may be enhanced because I am drawn to think of what the words mean, and not so much focused on the skills (or the lack of skills) of the musician. I pray that God will bless you greatly as you consider both the literal meaning of the words and the deeper meaning within the context in which the song was written.

@1948DESMOND9 жыл бұрын
+iloirtimusiikista - what reformation? luther did not reform the catholic church. he should have. instead, he ran out of the r.c. church, crossed the road and started up his own religion!! a bit like starting up a new business to compete with the other one over the road, is it not? as for the forgiveness of sins, luther rightly condemned rome for it . however, poor luther was short of a few schillings so he, too, started selling forgiveness for sins!! so, you see, there was NO reformation. that said, as a lapsed catholic, i have nothing but great respect for protestantism and, indeed, ALL religions. they all lead us home to thelight at the end of the day, don['t they? auf wiedserheihn. gooten nockt.
@jackiechan67018 жыл бұрын
+Dassoon Fitz Martin Luther DID wanted to reform the Roman church. But the corrupt officials and the corrupt pope of that era rejected his ideas because then they wont be getting any money for their lavish lifestyles. They excommunicated him against his will so he was forced to start a new church with true catholic teachings. He never wanted his church to be named after him. The word Lutheran/lLutherist was imposed by the romans as an insult to Lutheran teaching followers. and when did Luther started selling forgiveness. He would have reprimanded you for telling this heinous lie. He lived a catholic life. He died a catholic.

Blondie McKenzie no all ways do not lead to heaven, justification by faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ is the only way, please read the Bible see for yourself.
@patrickfranken57146 жыл бұрын

Recently made a new friend from Germany and asked her to sing this for me because it has fascinated me for years that a hymn written in German is so beautifully metrical and lyrical in English. She didn't know it to sing it but said she'd send me a link to it, warning me that I would probably not like it as much in German because the language is not as pleasant sounding. She was right. It is still beautiful though if for no other reason than the music. I don't speak German either I might would appreciate the German lyrics more.
