Whatever Mike lacks in terms of size he more than makes up for in how he reads the game. His football IQ is off the charts, and I believe he will do well in the NFL. The Sainristil kid is next level, comparing him to Honey Badger is fair in how he impacts games. When a play is being made, he is almost always involved from what I've seen. Loved the H. Badger, but Sainristil is a great leader out there as well - only 2 years playing D...look out.

We're about to set a record for nfl draft picks as well as 10+ picks next year. Pretty much an entire NFL staff plus a top 10 pick at qb. The people who say this is the worst champion in a while are either just coping or ignorant of the facts

@@stevenselleck5460 “a bunch of evidence” - you mean the number of nfl draft picks argument? That is only one source of “evidence” (please learn how to count) and it is not a good source. Second, it is extremely circular. The talent level is lower overall across the ncaa compared to previous years. Having more drafts picks is great but not if the depth of the talent poll is lower than previous years. The fact that Michigan has many nfl draft picks does not disprove the opinion that Michigan is not a good champion relative to previous years.

Joel’s spot on re: Sainristil. Off the charts football intelligence, off the charts poise, great speed and agility. The only issue for him at the NFL level is his size. It won’t prevent him from being a Swiss Army knife on special teams, but he won’t likely get the nod as a defensive secondary starter, except against certain offenses and players.

Penix is going to have a better career than most of the other QBs deemed to ve in the top 6. I'll say Daniels and Nix outright. McCarthy will depend on where he goes, if the team he goes to has a good QB coach and allows him to mature into thee role. Maye... I'm actually not as high on Maye as most so I'll put Maye and Williams at 50/50. Mike Sainristil? Just gonna play very high-level football for the next 8-10 years. That's all. Just gonna be a very good player for someone over the next decade. If two inches taller he'd be a 1st round lock. Roman Wilson? Incredibly underrated. Again, just gonna be a solid WR in The NFL for the next 8-10 years. If 2 inches taller he'd be a 1st arounder. Newton? Monster. Should be a 1st rounder. Has everything.

I've been watching him every year for some time, he's got a great finger on the pulse of college football. Rarely is he wrong. Folks need to remember that it's all about seeing potential when analyzing college prospects to the NFL. Some guys will be busts and it's not because the analyst didn't see something wrong, but rather they bust because of the player is not living up to their potential, the team fit didn't work out, etc. Ryan Leaf for example was talented, was a good prospect, but the dude pretty much killed his own career.

Plus, you sabotaged your own argument - if he was really the only WR Michigan had(and Cornelius Johnson is going to be a sleeper pick too BTW), then he should have been a non-factor as defenses honed in on him. So why did he finish #9 in FBS in TD catches? At a 25% rate, no less!

I wonder if those people in the NFL are as concerned as they once may have been with the injury history with Penix? If he was an excellent prospect as a freshman and sophomore yet was hobbled by injuries to finish up in College, we'd still have people saying "oh, remember this guy early on and what he's capable of so if he can avoid injury as a pro then skys the limit!" Which I think would scare teams more than what Michael Penix is dealing with which is exactly the opposite.

Had Penix and Williams played in the B1G conference, their numbers and control of the pocket would not have looked like that. Michigan showed exactly the problems they would have had. The defense both will face in the NFL will be more difficult on them.

You don't just "get over" the injury concerns. Penix was barely touched the last two years behind the best O-line in college football. Out of 1109 pass attempts, he was sacked only 16 times in those two years, or 1 in every 69 drop backs. That's an elite sack percentage of 1.4%. By contrast, at Indiana he went down the same number of times in half the pass attempts, or 1 in every 34 attempts. Without bothering to dig up the knock down stats, it stands to reason he was under a lot more pressure before he got behind that Washington O-line.

Penix is going to make a lot of people sorry if he’s not drafted at the top of the first round. He has been healthy for two years and counting. Now Joe Burrow is an injury concern but he just got a mega contract.

Seems a little biased for Big Ten football, but I love Joe's thoughts and articulation. Totally agree on Newton and Fashanu. One false statement though...nobody's defense was better than FSU last year...PERIOD! Not even close. You're talking about a defense that almost made it into the corrupt CFP/ESPN championship by itself with a 3rd string freshman QB.

I’m a Raider and I take him at 13. Not a fan on trading our future. Telesco has a high rate of Drafting in Rounds 1@ 2. Let him not risk his job, for a hot Red Sportscar you can’t afford. This is a great QB room AOC, Gardner, Pennix. Great competition, great success.

I been a raider fan since 1965. I also hope that we draft Penix at 13. Get the RT/RG or CB in rounds 2 and 3. I would be shocked if Telesco gives up bunch of picks to move up, non of these guys is worth mortgaging the future.

Fashanu is a good player but he is no Joe Alt 6-9 325 and and future Pro Bowl player and he is a beast pass and run blocking and probably a day 1 starter the combine proved that in the NFL and he is one of the youngest players in the draft his future is off the charts. Could be heading to the H.O.F just like a few other ND lineman would be no surprise with this kids talent

In todays NFL, the trend is to Build a team around your QB while he is on a rookie contract, because its cost prohibitive after that. As far as the age argument goes, with the modern rules, qb are playing into their 40s if theyre even decent backups. Take a guy, try him for 5 years, if he isnt the next (insert icon) then you let him go and you do it again, all while continuing to build the pieces around them. Basically the opposite of what Dallas is doing.

Sam Laporta is a better tight end than Brock Bowers.Brock may be a better weapon, but Sam Laporta is a great blocker and has the prototypical size. Brock is undersized which may limit him at the next level.
@IamBlackMagic03
@IamBlackMagic03 Ай бұрын
It won't limit him because the game now is vertical and pass heavy. Depending on the team or OC he will be put in position to do what he does best, which is catch passes. If you're drafting this kid to be someone who will be blocking a lot then you should lose your job. It's why a lot of teams have their TE who is the main receiver and others who catch a pass every now and then but block mostly
