Lots of factors make the show go down, killing Katherine was the beginning of the downfall, she was the main antagonist and also an antihero she was necessary for the show, also Klaus and the Originals, Kai was a surprisingly brilliant villain to, the others of the following seasons were jokes compared to the old legends, like Katherine, Klaus and his family and last but not least Kai, the called Team K was one of the main reasons the show was so good and with them gone nobody could fit the villain role

I am beyond happy that finally a klaroline reunion is being held. Klaus and Caroline both deserve this because lets be honest, they need each other.
