It's a good tragedy to me. Elijah gave it all for family but at the end of the day there was nothing left of him in the world. His entire life spent barely living for himself. Unable to choose himself, lost his love, lost himself, full of guilt, gave up. His entire life purpose, his greatest reason for living, his life's work being the redemption of his brother. Just when he's succeeded, it ends. His greatest mission is over and he dies with him. Klaus after the suffering he went through with his brother, doing horrible things to survive, to conquer, for his family and because of it. After disappointing his brother for centuries, he finally, finally became the man Elijah always believed he could be.. when he finally found purpose, it's just over.

Eventhough Elijah loved all his family very much (hayley and hope included) and i used to think that he cared more for rebekkah (along with hayley and hope later) more ; it is clearly evident that he loves Klaus more than any of them. He dedicated his entire life for his redemption and when he finally saw that side of Klaus and realised that he was going to die in doing so he couldn't take it. Hayley dying, hope needing a guardian none of it could break him, but when Klaus was about to die he knew he couldn't let him die alone

Klaus and Elijah are endgame, they loved eachother throughout everything. Klaus may have had a sick way of showing it but he loved his brother and his brother loved him. They died together because Elijah couldn't live without him, he would much rather fall with his brother than fall alone. That right there, is a real brother, he would rather leave his life behind to be by his brothers side. That is why I liked the ending, yes it mad me cry but it's the way they went. Elijah and Klaus Mikaelson will ALWAYS be remembered as the best brothers in history. Somehow a show about vampires managed to teach us about LOVE, FAMILIAL BONDS, BROTHERHOOD, LIFE & LOSS. That life is messy and filled with death and heartache and chaos and hatred but LOVE if you choose it makes all worth it. That everything has an end no matter how long it takes and that no matter what; the end will crush you and leave you feeling empty and utterly heartbroken...a show about vampires taught us about life. I used to hate Julie Plec for the way the shows ended but she’s an amazing creator of beautiful lessons. I appreciate her now as much as I loath her for making me feel something.
