In college I was a night watchman in a warehouse overnight and would hook up the PA system to echo Klaus throughout the building especially on starlit nights making my rounds, listening, and gazing at the stars through the skylights. What a job... what an artist

@@intramentalstudios5573 It was an overnight security job at a sugar warehouse. Id come in, study, put the music on, make rounds, and open a lawn chair to look up at the stars with Klaus providing the ambience in a dark echoing environment or put on Stars End radio wxpn. Ahhh bliss!!!

One of Klaus’ defining characteristic is his ability to make eerie otherworldly music without it sounding like a dark and sinister piece that belongs in a horror film. Instead his music has the quality of the unknown, the anxieties and hopes we feel living in a mysterious universe. He takes us on a journey that isn’t meant to lull us into ambient bliss but rather challenges us to explore new creative worlds in our minds that inspire wonder but also gives us a sense that where we’re going might not be a utopian space age fantasy but perhaps something better- something beyond our earthly understanding.

That's an incredible feat to visualize. I clicked-on the eye-candy of the thumbnail just a moment ago and read this comment, like I haven't lived my days writing electronic music beyond the rapture of a sanctified respite for my restless soul. Perhaps from a creative perspective on finding a sense of purpose or belonging to one's art, music like this can aptly invoke a yearning for something beyond the humanistic limitations of what drives that creation forward... And forget the boundaries of possessing it altogether with the compartmentalizing idolatry that such imposed limitations can bind for a perceptual paradigm. But I agree. I think the music is pretty badass :D

I coincidentally (?) discovered Klaus just following the recommendations just now. I like reading the comments under the albums like this. There's so much life in them. I never commented anything on youtube but decided to make my debut here. I'm a DJ and a drug addict. I hate the second part about myself. I feel stuck. Sometimes I forget why I have stepped into DJing. Music is the thing that brings me to the state of the Universal (God's) confession. This is the thing that makes me feel like I'm in a movie and that I'm alive at the same time. Karl hasn't cured me but made me feel that again for this hour and a half. I have a lot of thoughts right now. And all of them are bright. Thank you and rest in peace, Karl. And thank YOU for reading.

I’m still cautious about music like this. It does something deep in the mind that its hard to be aware of, and it has parallels to some drugs from the sounds of it, stimulating the synthesis of such chemicals by your body I guess. It doesn’t appear to cause much harm, but it might take you away from concerns in your life that were worth being concerned about. Some things you can let go of but there’s always some grounding needed in life, and too much of a good thing can take that away I guess.

Irreplaceable - the soul of electronic music... I remember listening to Jean-Michelle Jarre "Oxygène" when it came out in 1976, forty six years ago. I was blown away. Then somehow I got a copy of Klaus Schulze's Timewind, and I was forever changed. I have listened to KS every day since. Every year the release of a new album was like a gift from a best friend. KS had this way of making Berlin school music like this that ear wormed it's way into your consciousness whether you were paying attention or not. So many many times I'd put on a KS album and get utterly lost in space and time to it, hypnotised by its beauty only to snap back to reality when the absence of music hits at the end. Sometimes I wouldn't realise it ended and just be in something like a soporific state. He did sequencer music like very very few others.

I discovered electronic music while listening to a great radio station in the 1970s. WGTB was a student run FM radio station out of Georgetown University in Washington, DC. The station also played reggae, punk, and other music that I heard nowhere else. That is where I learned of Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schultze, Brian Eno, Mike Oldfield and others. I was immediately intrigued by the sound and warmed to it. Quite a contrast to the other music on FM radio at the time, for sure. Thank goodness for KZbin. I can find all the music from my old albums and stream them in my car and at the office. Great music to have playing in the background while working. I do miss the fun of going to the record store, reading liner notes, sometimes getting a poster, and album art.

Listened to Mr Froese and Schulze when I was 16 years old teenager. Now I have, at the at the age of 50 re-discovered their beautiful avant guard music… Even my wife has taken a liking to it!

To me this album is Klaus’ late masterpiece. Make the effort to listen to it on good headphones or better yet between two good speakers. Eyes closed please. Sad that he’s gone, but grateful he was extremely prolific.

Ruhe in Frieden Klaus.

My first LP with electronic music was MOONDAWN by Klaus Schulze. I heard him in the seventies live at Deutschlandhalle, Berlin. Since that time I`m very inspired by his music. I started to improvise on electronic instruments, and today my music would be unthinkable without Klaus. Thank you!

I dig this so much. Reminds me of a merry go round of thought and experience. My brother and I sat listening to this with the lights low and we both agreed it feels very ancient. I was seeing the rise and fall of roman society. I love history so I closed my eyes and imagined a time line of people ebbing and flowing to this music. Great societies rising only to disappear by the sands of time. :)
