Luka playing on one leg and taking personal responsibility for every loss, means something to the players. Fans and pundits may not care about that, but the players see it. Especially since Luka already has the contract.

I love how Klay compares himself to Reggie Miller! In the three seasons Reggie was age 34,35,36, he averaged 17.8ppg & only missed 5 games TOTAL over that 3-year span... He played till he was 40 & that was 20 years ago! Now imagine that type of production now playing off the MOST double-teamed, BEST shot-quality creating playemaker in the league... KLAY AREA REVENGE TOUR COMING SOON.

Klay chose the Mavericks because he wants to win at least one more championship. Luka, Kyrie, PJ, Lively, Gafford, Maxie, Hardy, Prosper, Exem, Powell and the new players Naji and Quentin along with Klay are a very strong team. If that team fails, Luka will always take responsibility because he believes his job is make all of team mates better. Luka just needs to manage his health so; he is at 100% for the playoffs. The loss to the Celtics in five is going to motivate Luka and Kyrie to prepare to meet them again and change that result. Now with Klay and the rest of this team they are made to when a championship. And Nico is not finished with tinkering with this line up and he has good players to use to make some more trades before the trade deadline.

Klay decided to join the Mavericks because he believes that they can win a championship in the next few years. That is what is the most important thing to Klay, winning. The other important thing is that the Mavericks do not have the pressure that the Warriors and the Lakers have to be great. Also, the Mavericks have stars that does not blame other players for any failures. Luka and Kyrie will always take any blame on themselves for any failures because they see their job is to make all of their team mates better. The Mavericks play basketball to have fun, fun in winning, fun in striving to play at a very high level together as a team. Hopefully this will be a big three that will actually work because these three stars seem to have the kind personalities that will work well together.

People want to make this about Klay’s defense so bad but last time I checked Dallas beat the #1 defense, Minnesota 4-1. This proved that your defense needs to be #10 but players have to make shots and KAT didn’t. This is why we needed Klay, because others couldn’t help Luka and Kai. Defense will fix itself, if the effort is there
@SinaSoh
@SinaSoh 24 күн бұрын
Klays defense could be Jason Kidds defense in 2011. I can see Klay playing great D vs Guards and Sfs who are bigger and don’t rely on athleticism. I do see him struggling on defense vs guards and SFs who rely on speed. Jason Kidd got torched vs a young CP3 in 2008. In 2011 he faced bigger and slower guards and played great defense. I can see the same with Klay, I believe you don’t forget how to play defense all of a sudden.
@sportfanatic5339
@sportfanatic5339 24 күн бұрын
@@SinaSoh I see that being the case regardless of his injuries. Older players generally aren’t as shifty as younger players, but having those doesn’t help either. Let’s use De'Aaron Fox as an example. Klay would probably sit on his hip, and funnel him to Gafford and Lively, so they can block his lay up. If he tries to shoot, Klay is there for the contest. As you can see, this will require excellent rotation on defense because PJ must box out the weak side due to Lively or Gafford rotating to help Klay. Also, pressure works both ways. If Dallas is scoring at ease, and the other team has to work harder to score. This will cause them to make mistakes because they’ll start forcing things which will lead to turnovers. This is called defense by offense. Boston did this to Luka and Kai. Other guys weren’t making shots so Luka and Kai began turning the ball over because they forced bad passes and shots.

Three point shooting will be off the charts next year and not just Klay: 1. PJ shot 38% from 3 on 5 shots a game his first two years in the NBA. Normally 3 point shots get better over the years and not worse. However, when you are sick on a loser yeah and efficiency doesn’t matter it can get worse. Now he can work on his 3 point shot during the summer for next year. 2. Luka and Irving will have lots more spacing because of Klay AND PJ shooting better from 3. So, their efficiency from 3 should go up too. 3. Kidd, rightfully, limited Lively’s game to the basics last year. Lively can shoot the 3 as he showed on the predraft workout. I think next year Lively will shoot 2-3 3’d a game at times to keep the defense honest. 4. Grimes is a good 3 point shooter and hopefully Marshall can maintain what he did last year (he should as he will get more open shots than ever on the Mavs). 5. Klay. It will be amazing to see Luka, Kyrie and Lively pass it off to an open 3 point shooter and not cringe as it is DJJ or even PJ last year. While I don’t think Klay will average more than 20 points a game next year cause that won’t be needed on the Mavs, his efficiency will be one of his best of his career I think.

I've really only been a mavs fan since luka was drafted, although I did love dirk and cheered for the 2011 mavs team against the heat. I'm also a LA Rams fan. The mavs up until recently reminded me of when the rams were in St Louis. Me as a fan would get so excited about the worst free agents, the worst draft picks, no one would come to st Louis. Then we moved to LA and immediately get the best coach the best free agents it was a night and day difference. I'm glad to see the mavs finally getting these players and putting a team around luka and Kai

I agree about the fit in offense but defensive wise ,klay has slowed down on that respect. Defense is what got us to be in the playoffs and finals. We need more of it with DJJ back. Renegotiate 300 plus mil on him and he is more than willing to come back! DJJ was loving it here! With the addition of klay will aliviate the pressure of making 3 pointers! Which would help him to shoot much better and confident to make it up if he misses. Because he has the support of his team mates to fill the slack. A real team does this and is not dependent on one or two guys, but to each other. This is what championship pedigree is all about.

Based on Mavs shooting around 35 to 40 three point shots per game it boils down to who gets those 3 shots??? IMO Klay should get 10 three shots per night. Luka and Irving 5 to 8 per night. That leaves around 6 to 8 other 3 shots per game which should go to the open man whoever that might be. Hopefully PJ, Grimes, Hardy and Naji get 95% of those shots. Exum, Maxi & OMax simply don't need to be taking them unless wide open. Hopefully PJ and Grimes show they can hit the open ones as well or they too become so much less valuable. Play D and hit open 3 and health over the season will determine our 24/25 season. Ride Luka and Irving less in the regular season so they will have energy and health comes playoff time.
