Real talk watching this hit deep. It hurts when you can be what you want to be, physically he will never be the same , its like he came to realize he's older and he is not what he used to be. Him pouting on the bench when he had off nights was a bad look.

Kawhi Leonard. People quickly forgot everything he'd accomplished and started trashing him. He had three surgeries on the same leg. Stephen A is the absolute worst when he attacks these players. He said Kawhi should retire and said Klay is washed up and plays like garbage. These men are human just like we are and it's tough to hear people call you trash and garbage.

THAT'S RIGHT KLAY!!!!!! Proud of you bro There's no reason to go BACK to who you were when nobody else is able to emulate that either. you have young STUDS in your squad that could be next up if you shift your focus. Enjoy this chapter for what it is. You can become an ELITE MENTOR and TEAMMATE, forget the other stuff you already did that.
@BoomDocs14K4 ай бұрын
I have the utmost respect for Klay and can relate to his thoughts. Being on top of your game for years, then age gradually creeps in and people say you're not what you once were. That's a hard pill to swallow! By human instinct, we try to prove the critics wrong, but the clock continues to tick. Accepting the truth doesn't mean you're weak or not great, it's simply the decision to age gracefully and enjoying the moments you have. Even Michael Jordan had to face and embrace this change! Salute Klay... you will always be one of the "Splash Brothers!" Nothing can change your legacy!!!
@jakeiwnl4 ай бұрын
It's not that age crept in. He was at the height of his prime and then he tore his ACL. AND THEN after healing and rehabbing from that, he tore his Achilles in practice. Back to back potential career ending injuries. Having your prime stripped away from you like that would be nothing but the worst feeling ever. It's reasonable for him to want to get back to where he was, because if it wasn't for the injuries, they would have 5 rings right now.
@BoomDocs14K4 ай бұрын
@@jakeiwnl I agree with you, but like Kerr & Klay stated, sometimes trying to prove yourself gets in the way mentally and you can forget who you are! The only alternative to getting old is dying, but will come. However, if we think too hard about both events, we can't enjoy the moments we have. I think that was the point about the negative energy.

Could possibly be THE most important sound bite of our season. Great question by whoever asked it
@living4peace3924 ай бұрын
Klay gave actually a heartfelt response to the question. I won’t be surprise if he retires after this season or next. I do hope his new mindset is set in stone and he can contribute greatly in a different way instead of his old way

Nah that's crazy, Klay was gunning because he's trying to earn the last big money contract of his career lol. He just put in a 22ppg season mate, no way he retires already barring significant injury.
@kevinandrewsphoto4 ай бұрын
There’s zero chance in him retiring. Shooters careers last longer than any other type. He is also extremely competitive, and his life is purely basketball. He would probably play overseas before hanging up his cleats. I’d hate to see him in another uniform, but every team could use a tall 40% 3pt shooting wing.

Basketball is an evolutionary game. Your game has to keep changing with time. I think Warriors changed the game of basketball, particularly with their 3-point games. But now other players have caught up. Now is the time for them to put aside the pressure of another championship and start rebuilding.

Those injuries were cruel. They hit him right at that age where when he finally got back he was just getting a bit too old to show everyone he could get back to his best, and in his eyes I've no doubt he was thinking of his 60 pts, 37 qtr, 14 threes best! If they hit when he was a bit youger it may have been easier mentally to return.

Often times in the era of modern medicine, fans and even players themselves forgets that most players retires around 35 provided that they had not suffered any catastrophic injuries.
