He is saying that he’s just doing his job, and if he stopped, someone else will try to do what he is doing (who wouldn’t want to recreate a dinosaur), and he could be indicating that he loves making dinosaurs, like it’s an impulse for him, he has to do it.

I love how Dr. Wu's character has evolved over the series. He started out so innocent, but his ambition got the better of him. Now, he's this super complex man willing to do whatever it takes, no matter how unethical, to continue his work. I can't call him a villain because there's no real ill intentions. He's like a crack addict desperate for a hit. He's solely focused on progressing his research, but lacks the ability to understand (or he simply doesn't care) how his work impacts the world around him. You could probably call him a sociopath, but not an all out villain.

He’s the biggest example of doing it because he can, not because he should. Hammond at least appreciated the dinosaurs for the wonders they were. Wu had a clinical view of the dinosaurs, not realising the implications and instead being proud of his creations despite the carnage they caused. The fact he’s willing to apply his skills for military applications is further proof of an ego desensitised to consequences. In Jurassic World he flees Isla Nublar without consideration for his colleagues, and quickly escapes the Lockwood mansion when the dinosaurs there are let loose. In the upcoming genetic arms race, no doubt Wu won’t be picky about how ethically his samples are obtained. Wu’s character seems prone to taking the easy or lucrative way out, and so he doesn’t see or willingly blinds himself to the human casualties. He deliberately withheld information about the indominus, using the conversation to try blame Masrani for wanting something with lots of teeth. Wu even facilitated the poor mental well-being of the Indominus for Hoskin’s ulterior motive. He uses what insight he has on dinosaur behaviour for his own convenience, insisting Blue is retrieved so further tests with the Indo material are easier.

Dr. Wu went with whom ever could finance his genetic work. If this meant people who might be less than ethical so be it. This beautifully describes a lot of modern science in real life as well.

@fullmetalpotato12585 жыл бұрын
so i work at a movie theater between semesters of college. and when Fallen Kingdom came out it was the only time i ever thought an after credit scene was not worth the wait unless they did something pretty odd. See one thing i thought about was that each movie (bar the second one) showed a new step up in their genetics tech. the 1st movie showed the creation of previously extinct dinosaurs the 3rd movie had the hybrid experiment that was the spinosaurus the 4th movie introduced perfected dinosaur hybrids with Indominus the 5th movie introduced human cloning. and the 5th movie ends with the pteranadons in Las Vegas, which stands out to me as being somewhat close to area 51 as far as major population centers go. So it feel that if theey were keeping up with this theme of the advances in genetics, then the 6th movie would end up having some splicing of human and dinosaur, maybe a hybrid dino with human intelligence to use in warfare or something. Which maybe ends up being developed in area 51. If that ends up being the case, i would end up taking back my thoughts of Fallen Kingdom's after credits being not "worth the time" as i heard most people who waited for it say before i had to clean up after them and the rest of the audience. This is not to say that area 51 making human dino hybrids would be a good movie, im saying that unless they make the las vegas cameo relevant next movie, then the after credit still sucks, and that human dino hybrid seems like the next progression in the genetics advances each movie (except the second) has made.

Turning Dr. Wu into a super villain makes about as much sense as Dr. Gerry Harding becoming the series antagonist. Wu was just a guy doing his job and playing a role in a much larger plan, not a criminal mastermind. I‘ll never understand why the screenwriters put him on this narrative trajectory without any proper film setup. I appreciate the vast world building and character history via Universal but it’s a shame it all occurs offscreen outside the films. Klayton himself said film Henry has more in common with novel Henry. It just feels too little too late. I agree he’s not an outright villain, but calling him a “Desperate artist” is generous. The whole concept feels reactionary and not thought out. As if the role could have been any other geneticist on the team.

Like you Klayton, I think he's a fascinating character/antagonist and I like that his role has gotten more fleshed out in the JW series. I hope we can see more of him in later movies and also his back story.

When looking at the way he was in JP vs how he is now, I don't like the major change. But how he was in the book to how he is now I like it as it is a natural progression of his character. With that said I hate mixing book and movie to explain the progression of a character. From the book I do truly see him turning out the way he did in the last two movies but from the way he way portrayed in JP it is not a natural progression so I really don't like how he has changed in the movies.

Sean Gere Same. I can’t separate the easygoing lab guy from the Resident Evil villain guy he is now. It’s just too forced.

I know we get roars and growls when talking about Dinosaurs, but I would have loved for Wu to talk shit to us for his intro. XDDD

Dr. WU IS A MAD ARTIST, I love that line. While I don’t want him to Be a complete villain, I do hope he plays a large role in the last movie.

4:40, that's how they cloned the Mosasaurus for the Jurassic World theme park! I even read about it the Iron Analyzer on the Jurassic Park Wiki Site.

I love his character and he would make a great main protagonist or at least one of them, But i do feel bad for him too and when he kill him off it gonna sadden me for a moment

I really hope he gets his comeuppance in JW3. Iccarus flew too close to the sun and he met his untimely demise. Wu has caused too much damage and is responsible for too many deaths.

Fun fact: BD Wong played a different character also named Dr. Wu in some episodes of Nurse Jackie in 2015. Was it a coincidence or a direct nod to JP?
