“All of this exists because of me. If I do not innovate, someone else will.” I love that line because not only is he right, but there are so many layers within it. He is saying that he’s just doing his job, and if he stopped, someone else will try to do what he is doing (who wouldn’t want to recreate a dinosaur), and he could be indicating that he loves making dinosaurs, like it’s an impulse for him, he has to do it.

I love how Dr. Wu's character has evolved over the series. He started out so innocent, but his ambition got the better of him. Now, he's this super complex man willing to do whatever it takes, no matter how unethical, to continue his work. I can't call him a villain because there's no real ill intentions. He's like a crack addict desperate for a hit. He's solely focused on progressing his research, but lacks the ability to understand (or he simply doesn't care) how his work impacts the world around him. You could probably call him a sociopath, but not an all out villain.

@@VelociraptorsOfSkyrim Interesting if true, but Wu doesn't really feel like a villain. But more like Dr. Frankenstein as people describe, since he just interested in creating dinosaurs or genetics. He is more like a MacGuffin in the movie that allows dinosaurs to exist. But, now that the ending of Fallen Kingdom has establish. Wu is no longer necessary to the plot or important. He’s the biggest example of doing it because he can, not because he should. Hammond at least appreciated the dinosaurs for the wonders they were. Wu had a clinical view of the dinosaurs, not realising the implications and instead being proud of his creations despite the carnage they caused. The fact he’s willing to apply his skills for military applications is further proof of an ego desensitised to consequences. In Jurassic World he flees Isla Nublar without consideration for his colleagues, and quickly escapes the Lockwood mansion when the dinosaurs there are let loose. In the upcoming genetic arms race, no doubt Wu won’t be picky about how ethically his samples are obtained. Wu’s character seems prone to taking the easy or lucrative way out, and so he doesn’t see or willingly blinds himself to the human casualties. He deliberately withheld information about the indominus, using the conversation to try blame Masrani for wanting something with lots of teeth. Wu even facilitated the poor mental well-being of the Indominus for Hoskin’s ulterior motive. He uses what insight he has on dinosaur behaviour for his own convenience, insisting Blue is retrieved so further tests with the Indo material are easier.

I've always thought of Dr. Wu as passionate. To me, Dr. Wu is possibly the most incredible scientist in this lore. Hes been there since the beginning and we all know he'll be there till the end, but ultimately I think he like the rest of us is just extremely passionate about dinosaurs. Back in 1993 I dont believe his intentions were military use like ingen's, but maybe the passion he had for dinosaurs got taken advantage of?

SilverFatalis 5653 Ellie never implies that the plants she notices are ancient or extinct. At the beginning, right before they see the Brachiosaurus, she states that, “... these species have been extinct since the Cretaceous Period.” And following up on Malcom’s rant during lunch Ellie says, “You have plants in this building that are poisonous... you picked them because they look good.” I use to wonder the same thing, but I think it’s safe to say that according to her dialogue those are modern plants she’s referring to.

So that's how the Spinosaurus fits into the franchise. I always wondered about that comment of Dr. Grant of being this animal not on Ingen's list. Great video! Dr. Wu went with whom ever could finance his genetic work. If this meant people who might be less than ethical so be it. He became so focused on the work he was doing that he too became less than ethical in his approach to cloning. Despite his reservations in selling the Indominus Rex he shut his mouth and watched the money start rolling in. I want Wu to have a epiphany moment, see the errors of his genetic fixation and try to help humanity in some way. I think there's a good person underneath the heartless scientist.

In my opinion, I see Dr. Wu as exactly how Dr. Malcolm described John Hammond. As "a kid that's found his Dad's gun". A well-intentioned innovator that has no idea when he has crossed into the realm of something he has absolutely no idea how to control. Or even if he can control it at all. This beautifully describes a lot of modern science in real life as well.

so i work at a movie theater between semesters of college. and when Fallen Kingdom came out it was the only time i ever thought an after credit scene was not worth the wait unless they did something pretty odd. See one thing i thought about was that each movie (bar the second one) showed a new step up in their genetics tech. the 1st movie showed the creation of previously extinct dinosaurs the 3rd movie had the hybrid experiment that was the spinosaurus the 4th movie introduced perfected dinosaur hybrids with Indominus the 5th movie introduced human cloning. and the 5th movie ends with the pteranadons in Las Vegas, which stands out to me as being somewhat close to area 51 as far as major population centers go. So it feel that if theey were keeping up with this theme of the advances in genetics, then the 6th movie would end up having some splicing of human and dinosaur, maybe a hybrid dino with human intelligence to use in warfare or something. Which maybe ends up being developed in area 51. If that ends up being the case, i would end up taking back my thoughts of Fallen Kingdom's after credits being not "worth the time" as i heard most people who waited for it say before i had to clean up after them and the rest of the audience. This is not to say that area 51 making human dino hybrids would be a good movie, im saying that unless they make the las vegas cameo relevant next movie, then the after credit still sucks, and that human dino hybrid seems like the next progression in the genetics advances each movie (except the second) has made.

When looking at the way he was in JP vs how he is now, I don't like the major change. But how he was in the book to how he is now I like it as it is a natural progression of his character. With that said I hate mixing book and movie to explain the progression of a character. From the book I do truly see him turning out the way he did in the last two movies but from the way he way portrayed in JP it is not a natural progression so I really don't like how he has changed in the movies.

Turning Dr. Wu into a super villain makes about as much sense as Dr. Gerry Harding becoming the series antagonist. Wu was just a guy doing his job and playing a role in a much larger plan, not a criminal mastermind. I‘ll never understand why the screenwriters put him on this narrative trajectory without any proper film setup. I appreciate the vast world building and character history via Universal but it’s a shame it all occurs offscreen outside the films. Klayton himself said film Henry has more in common with novel Henry. It just feels too little too late. I agree he’s not an outright villain, but calling him a “Desperate artist” is generous. The whole concept feels reactionary and not thought out. As if the role could have been any other geneticist on the team.

When Henry wu Said a very very important thing he said “All dinosaurs in Jurassic world has different DNA 🧬 in their body” which is very important to know because then it makes sense why the velociraptors are different in many cases this is my opinion

I too consider Wu to be more of a tragic character rather than malicious or villainous. I keeps pushing the envelope on his research because of a combination of his personal ambition and curiosities in the sense of, "Can I actually do this?". He's also very prideful and protective of his work, or legacy, and took offense when Masroni called his work (specifically the Indominus) a monstrosity, even when there were a number of human fatalities because of it. I don't seem he as sociopathic as maybe more trying to disconnect himself from consequences like a somewhat spoiled child or even a rich celebrity with a massive ego that he feels like he earned or is entitled too because of his accomplishments. Also, his behavior is this trilogy reminds me of his next to final scene in the original novel, where he concerned himself more about the physical development of due to reassembling and hybridizing the genomes he created, but not really bothering to learn more about the animals themselves (ie behaviors) past how their genetics have influenced them. I don't think he spent too much time interacting with the Indominus to even the small extent that Claire did, beyond probably being there for its birth, and he didn't really seem to care much about their behaviors, until he had to work directly with the Indoraptor himself, which is probably where his need for Blue as a genetic and behavior parent came in. This time, he had no one else to really oversee the animals for him, no Muldoon, no Owen or Claire, and Mills seemed to be at least as disconnected from concerns about the Indoraptor as Wu had been before the events of Fallen Kingdom. So Wu might have evolved a bit more in how viewed his creations beyond just engineering them, but doesn't seem to have gone as far as Claire, Owen, Hammond, or Masrani. And while he did participate in selling off his surviving creations from Nublar, I wonder how reluctant he was about it, but still saw it as necessary in funding and resources to create a perfect Indoraptor and beyond? These animals were his initial legacy to the world, and he knew that now these other entities were going to potentially mass produce their own bootlegged versions of his works, like his fears with the Indoraptor being sold. So while he might not care that much for the dinosaurs as animals, I wonder if the prospect of other people bootlegging his legacy after the auction was also hurting him on a personal level too?
