I miss people like Derica, (I grew up where people tell it how it is, good or bad) I'm the same way. Where I live now people think it's polite not to tell the truth. I love layers, this has layers, the end! ❤️! Perfectly reasonable explanation, especially since all the flavor layers have been described. Looking forward to the next concept beverage!

I've always had the habit of telling people the truth as I see it and I prefer people who do the same. I've learned to hold back a bit, because it is amazing how many people get mad when you do it. Someone I knew once blew up because I said her hair looked like she'd been riding in a convertible. Who knew? She went to the Beatty parlor to get the "Wind Blown Look" and that's what she got. Why yell at me?

@@johnshaw6702 rotflmao! She should have been happy you told her she got what she paid for (although adding her hair would be amazing with(a pinup style scarf) would have had it go over way better). That's exactly what people get mad at here but appreciate where I grew up

Wait, I smell something good. Oh right, time to check my chicken soup. I inadvertently did a basic mead experiment. I don't have a scale, so I added to much honey. I took some must out and, using a hydrometer, added water to bring down to were I wanted. Then I added water and honey to the must I removed to make another gallon with the same SG. I then decided to add the yeast to both, but only add Fermaid-O to one of them. The result was that the one with nutrients kept going, but the one without became stuck at about 60% complete. I gave it a week, then decided I'd take a chance and pitch some EC-1118 and a little nutrient to get it going again. Worked great. Note: I just used Texas honey and water. No tea or other sources of tannin. '42' the answer to life the universe and everything.

G'Day guys, well I have made 100L of this for Christmas Presents for my Trekkie friends and a lot for myself... done in 2 x 50L brewers. On the second 50L I didn't have enough brown sugar for secondary, in a pinch, I did have a few 600ml of Golden Syrup... Thinking, lets give it a go... What's the worst that could happen... Has now been bottled and been sitting for 3 months.... Just wanted to share, the golden syrup on is WOW.... Amassing what a substitution in a pinch can do... So now I have a Klingon Blood Wine Qapla 1 & Qapla 2... LOL.... You have done well on this one.... This is in my top 10...

you guys mentioned the fey wine, any chance that's getting a re-do anytime soon? since it wasn't as good as you were hoping I'd very much enjoy seeing that one revisited. I'm unfortunately just not in a position to be able to brew myself right now, but I've been thinking about a couple I'd like to do when I get a new place and it finally becomes feasible for me. If I were doing a version of they fey wine I think I'd do: white Grape juice, Hibiscus tea, and wildflower honey as the base and then add: Rose hips, dried blueberries, anise, ginger, nutmeg, and honeysuckle flowers for the first fermentation, and then consider adding rose petals, elder flowers, more honeysuckle, or maybe day lilies into the conditioning phase.
@johnshaw6702

That sounds similar to something I started at the beginning of the month, except no juice. I combined four different herbal teas and stepped for an hour before adding sugar (no honey at the time) and letting it cool down. There are about a dozen herbs in it. It is still young, but tastes really good. Probably because its not dry yet; it is just going real slow now.

We just put them on a shelf. If the yeast have nothing more to consume... it's stable. I saw a lot of things being said about homebrewing and a lot simply wasn't true. We also pasteurize to kill yeast if needed. But we don't use sulfites and neither do many commercial wineries.

@eddavanleemputten9232
@eddavanleemputten9232 Жыл бұрын
I realise your question is a year old but here goes: there are two things in prunes that might stimulate your gut. The first one is fibre. Prune fibres can absorb quite a lot of liquid, which is beneficial in a diet that doesn’t contain enough of them. Increasing the amount of fibre and your liquid intake causes your gut to have more soft, indigestible material to ‘work with’ which means it’s easier for your bowels to expel what’s in there… and get rid of it. Given the solids are removed in the Klingon Blood Wine, fibre won’t enter into the equation. The second element is the skins of prunes. They contain a chemical that stimulates the gut ant upon ingestion of too much, can even cause diarrhoea. Someone sensitive to that chemical might feel the effect. On the whole though, I don’t think the concentration in this wine would cause issues. You’d probably get schnockered before ingesting so much of it you’d have adverse effects on your intestinal transit. It might have things go a little… smoother?
