DAC: SMSL SU-9
Power amp: Purifi EVAL1 Eigentakt 1ET400A (VTV)
R-820F:
Incredible value for money
Tight, quick bass (8/10)
Warmish, comfortable mid/treble
Good with all music types
RP-8000F:
More detailed / sophisticated sound
Slightly quicker & tighter bass (9.5/10)
Great centre image, wider sound stage
Treble can be too 'spicy' for some music

I've had several of the dual 8" Klipsch, including the 28, 280, 800, 820, and the 8000. The first you want to do is plug the bass ports. All these speakers have heavy bass that muddies up the midrange. You will immediately hear the bass tighten up and the midrange open up and come forward.

I have the R800f special edition, and wanted to upgrade to the Rp8000, but the more I listen to this demo, the more I’m convinced that the difference is really minimal. I’ll save the money for a good power amp instead
@Sc2God724
@Sc2God724 2 жыл бұрын
The major difference is resonance the rp8000 is better built you'll notice on vocals on the 820f can sound muffled at times when heavy bass comes on its best to leave them crossed over at 100 hz and let a sub handle the rest for music alone the 8000f doesn't need any subs works perfectly fine but you do need a beefy avr to handle them or avr amp set up

Great choice! The R-820F is a great speaker no doubt - arguably the best value for money out there, but the RP-8000F is more refined and is 100% worth the upgrade :)

I just picked up a R-620f, they are great with a sub. I would think that the R-820F with a good sub would be similar to the RP-8000f. The price is double with the RP, but it is not twice as good. So if one is on a budget,, the R-820f is pretty good value for the price. I would guess if you got 2 subs together, it should be even better !

I didn’t like the r820-f to much at first. But then I connected a super powerful amp to them. And they now sound spectacular. I know these are super sensitive speakers anyway. But the power makes a huge difference.

They no doubt sound better but personally not sure they are worth the extra if you are on a budget. They are defiantly not twice as good but for sure sound better and clearer. But again i'm just comparing them with high quality headphones and not listening to them in person haha. I just recently picked up a pair of R-820F's for $1000AUD practically brand new and im loving them!! Awesome video though !
@urbanaudio2635

Yes agreed, they don't necessarily sound twice as good but they do sound more clear and 'premium'. At the price (especially AU$1k!!) the R-820Fs are very hard to beat, if not the best value for money speakers. And I listened to over 25 speakers before settling on the RP-8000Fs - Klipsch just loaned the R-820Fs to me as I waited over 9 months for the walnut 8000s to reach Australia!

@@urbanaudio2635 I find the Klipsch speakers are just very fun and "exciting" to listen to, you cant help but want to turn it up ! haha. I read online a Lot of people say Klipsch aren't worth the money but I totally disagree! Wow 25! did you ever demo any polk speakers? I've been curious about the s60's. @@domanater480 yes the only other speakers that I think came close were Dalis, and some of the premium JBLs that cost over $4k. I didn't really like any of the Polks that I heard that much, just a bit 'bland' compared to the Klipsch. And yes, you only want to turn them up and they never complain or distort :) Pity that I live in an apartment hah!

Hands down RP-8000F sounds a lot better. There’s not as much echo and low end sound as the R-820F. The 8000 also has a more pleasant top end sound.

good choice of speaker comparision but poor selection of songs....you should have selected songs of various kinds which has lot of vocals / mid ranges / low ranges and high ranges...so that we can hear the difference clearly....anyhow thank you for providing this video, which gave me some idea between these...Thank you

Maybe its just me, but from the video, the R-820F sound better. I like detail and I know people don't like how high they get, but you can always change the EQ around to get it to sound to your liking.

I've done the same comparison. Some music there is no audible difference, while other music, only a slight difference. The difference is probably only a half db here or there in the frequency response. There's no winner here. Choose accordingly.

I picked up rp280f recently (older generation of rp8000f) for half the cost of rp8000f so figured I would go for it. They are impressive no doubt but I'm struggling with an amp pairing that I like with them. I feel like a denon pma series (600 Or 800) would work well, just not sure if I'm a fan of that sound. Have you tried other amps with your rp8000?

@@erics.4113 Hmm I'd have to research amps more. I run an old Onkyo TX-SR606 and haven't found em fatiguing. What I did find though is if they are toed in directly at you then the wave guides got a bit harsh and intense. Once toed out a bit (they are still toed in a little) they were fine (without grills). Also soundstage was larger. I have a couple of pairs of Polks for comparison too.

@@zephxiii it could also be my room and certain genres of music because I can get them to sound ok. I've found the same thing. Slight toe in will lock a good sound stage but not overly blast you with that horn. I'm still new to the hobby and messing about with a bunch of gear I mostly bought all at once. Still lots of experimenting to be done!

@@erics.4113 Cool. Yeah room treatments is a very important thing. Hard surfaces will reflect higher frequencies quite a bit. I have a small living room at 11ft x 18ft and listen on the short dimension. This past year I acquired 4 GIK Acoustic 4'x8'x5.25" 244 Bass traps and put them behind my couch to help deal with some slop and a room mode spike around 52hz and was a nice improvement. The more you can treat the room the better it will be no matter what the speakers!

No, but they stay on 4 small Points pretty far away from each Other on the ground. If the Floor is very uneven you need to buy a Base that can be leveled. I build two and in my opinion they Sound better If they get raised a little.

Let me explain one this is what people are not understanding you take those speakers off those stands. It wakes the speaker up if you live in an apartment is when you put them on stand if you have your own house then you don’t put the stands on eight 2820s hit very hard in my place, I couldn’t believe the reviews when I first hooked them up. I actually got them for 260. The guy didn’t know that that’s what they wanted each speaker but he had already told me the price. I paid 264 was trash trash I plugged them up with them playing on low for eight hours for eight hours I came back play whatever I wanted to play and they sound absolutely fucking incredible. My whole house was shaking OK and my other towers because I have on stand and they sound really good but I’m gonna take them off the stand as well, I’ll say this again that you are not doing that at all so whoever think that’s a piece of shit speaker is insane. I think clips has found a way to get people to buy extra speakers because when you take the feed off, it’s a totally different speaker you telling me an 8 inch woofer with the massive horn is trash by Klipsch absolutely not take the feet off and then we’ll talk
@dockir5737
@dockir5737 2 ай бұрын
I will say this again as well if you’re gonna have tower speakers and put the feet on them, you might as well get nice bad ass bookshelf speakers and a subwoofer don’t ever buy tower speakers that you’re trying to get me Lowes from and you have them on on stands you’re never gonna get that You may get some if you think those 820’s are not filthy then you have lost your complete mind. All they did with the 8000 I think was let a little more sound come out of the woofers and it just makes it sound better. They still both sound like shit on stand. There’s no way I would have on unless I’m just looking to get a mellow like sound and I’m using subwoofers. I’ll say this one more time that 820 that I have with no feet on it is plain old filthy. I have it on a small amp right now I’m supposed to be pushing like 120 RMS on those speakers and that’s another thing. People don’t understand you can’t put a baby or anything on these speakers, these speakers require immediate 120 not a fucking Dan, seven channel 70 watch the channel again you might as well stay with bookshelf speakers you don’t have to push these speakers you don’t understand sound
