Curious is this is a Bioware decision prior to handing off to Broadsword. If Bioware, I imagine this is likely never going to get reverted or improved since I don't know if Broadsword would make that significant a change. I just started playing the game a week ago and pretty clueless about all of it.

When I got my first 80, I found myself taking a bit of a different route. I started the same, buying the full set of 324 conquest comm gear, but I didn't have any OP-1's for the rakata ear piece So instead, I used my excess comms to upgrade my ear to 340, then ran a couple of Vet FPs to use the same upgrade trick to get a 340 blue. This in turn got me the blue 340 mods for upgrading the rest of my non-accessory gear. I know that it wasn't as strong as the mix of blue and purple mods, but having been able to earn comms before hitting 80, it meant that I was able to get a full 340 set within a few hours of the level up. Now, I don't know which is faster as far as reaching a full 344 Rakata set, or which is the best route for gearing alts, but it seemed like a viable alternative for players that are starting without any OP-1s

I used to suggest that route as well to people! Upgrade the conquest gear and just kill stuff until you get a replacement at that item rating. That's a pretty good route for non-subscribers. The real advantage of the route I've laid out in this video is the collection of massive amounts of tech frags at the same time to upgrade your legendary implants while farming your gear.

I had an Artifact or w/e it is for the lower right pieces of gear ... and that worked as well ... does NOT need to be an earring for the 'trick' he did... I used a trick in Flashpoints for the Enhancement/Mod Vendor brothers... didn't need to step into an operation... 100% F2P.

If I wanna get rating 340 gear that looks cool what do I have to do. Cause I've got lvl 326 and haven't upgraded it yet, but it looks bland and not as cool

This is why I started playing solo in mmo's. The "endgame" grind became tedious, boring, repetitive, and infuriating. None of those are fun and that's what a game is supposed to be. So I stick to the highest level gear that's upgradeable running solo content and have learned to have a blast again. If and when new content rolls out and it's time to start upgrading gear; I find it less emotionally draining to deconstruct or vendor that gear, as well.

@@vicle872 I think you can abondon it. Just open up the missions window, select the mission and there should be an option to abandon. You'll be able to pick it up again later

Why deconstruct an artifact piece for the prototype quest instead of just prototype peice?

That just happened to be the piece I had for the example and wanted to say both prototype and artifact counts. When doing operations, you cannot get prototype accessories, they are either tionese or artifact.

Rakata gear only drops in operations & the OP-1 currency is very hard (but not impossible) to obtain outside of operations.

Yes, this specific way of getting gear is locked behind a subscription. You would want to check out the other options in my gearing video for 7.2 to see how you can gear up without being a subscriber. You can also check some other comments on this video for a method to gear up efficiently as a non-subscriber.

You got it from killing and looting an operation boss. It would drop at item rating 324 (If I remember correctly), but you would upgrade it to 340 using OP-1 Catalysts you get from completing operations and deconstructing all the extra rakata gear the bosses drop for you.

if you're a subscriber, the recent update/changes to gearing don't change this method. If you're a non-subscriber they added more options for you to trade gear/boxes/etc to have a complex system to allow you to get the top item rating gear & rakata gear, but didn't add a faster way to gear up.

looks like hyde quest was created to make credits sink from economy to decrease inflation. looking how cheap goldsellers in chat sell credits and on all those millions in gtn isnt the best feeling

It's insane how out of control the economy used to be compared to how it is now. It got so bad that individual cartel packs were selling for close to 400 million credits each...
